I'm surprised this topic doesn't come up more often, so... quick open question for everyone: what video game are you currently playing?

@psyco Neat! That Million in the title recalls me Idolmaster, never played it but they seems similar. Latest pixel art games I played were Refind Self and Maid Cafe on Electric Street (Demo).

I'm playing Kimi ga Nozomu Eien Enhanced Edition right now, it's about 500k words so it takes months.

@aeolus Funny thing, I’ve done the same, just in favor of games. I stopped watching news on radio or TV years ago; now it’s all games, movies (esp. at the theater), a few podcasts, documentaries, and a lot of music. It all depends on what you trade your time for. · 1 month ago

@chirale I confess that I'm not a gamer, although I do play a few games a day. Currently, I'm casually playing:

- March to a Million (by Kairosf, pixel art-style “music academy management”)

- Picotan (https://dumenglume.itch.io/picotan)

Thanks to the Pico-8 system, I can turn my smartphone into a retro console. But let's be honest, I'm more into brushes, pencils, and electric guitars or basses 🙂 · 1 month ago

@melyanna I agree in principle but it's just not where I see the hours spent in practice. · 1 month ago

Really just Minecraft. My university's Formula Student team has a Minecraft server. · 1 month ago

anyone here playing full-motion video (FMV) games? I found an article about FMV at mubi.com. Is it worth trying one?

Trying out Rocket League on Xbox. I played it around release many years ago, since then it has gone free to play. Core gameplay loop is still great. · 1 month ago

I just finished the Silent Hill 2 remake, now taking a break before I start Ghost of Yotei.

@aeolus your view is a little unfair towards games such as "Through the darkest of times" and other games that have something to say. Games can be legitimate a media to communicate something good or important, and they can be art. Obviously games like Fortnite, Roblox, etc. are a different story. · 1 month ago

Played some Minecraft with my kids over a decade ago. Tried some retro emulator stuff. Now it just leaves my cold and strikes me as a pointless distraction (a big like soccer/football). · 1 month ago

I gave up video games ten years ago. Not to be a downer but I think they're devoid of meaning and bad for society, not in an old Tipper Gore way, but more like they're contributing to brainrot and alienation. The only things I've played in the past few years have been Mario Party or equivalent on the couch with friends at actual parties. I've watched people get sucked into playing mobile stuff in every spare moment and can only compare it to the lotus-eaters. · 1 month ago
