when people mention people with @ character, do they get notified? is that handled or ignored by the software? so is that just a cultural thing people do or it has a sense?
stream shutdown error — 2025-12-09 23:04:21 [0] -- Problem: [('SSL routines', '', 'packet length too long'), ('SSL routines', '', 'record layer failure')] stream shutdown error: [('SSL routines', '', 'shutdown while in init')] How comes logs have no remote IP address? I don't have any other clue on why/how this is happening.
Incorrect number of comments shown on main page — A recent post by @AlexusBlack shows 2 comments, when I go there, only one exists... [gemini link]
Feature request: Sort indexed comments/posts by datetime I'd like to sort my indexed comments (and posts) by date and time so I can pick up where I left off without having to search. If that's already a feature then I apologize, I haven't been able to find it yet.
Suggestion: Treat notifications for new threads differently — When I go to my notifications to look at a new thread, what I'll do is open the "user posted" notification and then scroll the page to see its comments. But that doesn't mark the notifications for comments in those posts as read, so I have to either open them manually or clear all. I'd like it if when I open a new post notification, all of its comments are also marked as read with it.
need for password — I'm working on >something< and I was searching through some older posts, found two interesting pieces: [gemini link] Everything's simple until it aren't /u/skyjake/5261 "add alternative cert" AFAIU, this functionality in Bubble is to add additional cert while signing off with current user cert. So my question, likely to @skyjake is: is there any reason _NOT_ to allow user to manually add cert via fingerprint? I'm asking as I'm planning something along the lines and am...
unicode support in bubble — do you think bubble will work with unicode (punycode) domain? is it possible to make subspace names in unicode? aaand, is it possible to translate bubble to other language?
Expiring drafts — In Bubble v9.10, I've added a convenience feature that deletes empty drafts after one hour. An empty draft is one that is untitled and has no content segments of any kind. This is now up and running on BBS, so let me know if something seems broken.
return code: 21 — Hello, I'm getting "Verify return code: 21 (unable to verify the first certificate)" when using openssl to my bubble instance and, while I can connect just fine, a friend cannot. Is that the issue? How am I supposed to fix it? I tried fullchain.pem, a chained pem but always end up in the same error. I'm using let's encrypt. Thanks
Bubble Suspace View Options? — Hi @skyjake is there a way to change the view of the subspace from the full list to a fixed view with only the first letter (A, B, Ce...) ? Thanks!
are you familiar with any Bubble servers other than BBS? (other than Osanwë)
Have you considered a FAQ-type pinned post for the front page and subspaces? I didn't readily see an option for this.
I can't find where to edit long text on the BBS (with Titan). Is this feature exists somewhere or i can replace text only by using regular 1024 bytes only? Thanks. Sometimes, this interaction with trivial 1024 bytes makes my brain feel overwhelmed.
Is GmCapsule the only supported gemini server to run a bubble instance?
Recently changed my first post instead of last one (in some BBS thread) by mistake. Can I view the history somewhere to roll it back? anyway just restored it from my lagged brain, not sure it is same as before.
Seems I want direct messages feature on BBS :)
Changes in versions 9.1–9.5: Added Fox Face, Lion Face, and Panda Face avatars. Post summaries are cleaned more robustly to remove any formatting, newlines, spaces, links, etc. Empty post summaries no longer cause a blank line in the feed entry. Fixed an issue with posts not having any title in the database. Fixed extracting post title from content when a level 2 or 3 heading is present.
When using different sort options, pagination links are incorrect, i.e., does not honor the current sorting. Adding the query parameter manually seems to work.
If I want to run an instance of Bubble on the same server I run my other gemini capsules on, how do I tell gmcapsule which virtual host to use for Bubble? Example configuration: [preformatted]
Bubble v9.0: Edit Links — Titan Edit Links A new setting has been added for enabling Titan edit links in the post composer. This allows convenient editing of posts and comments via Titan. A Titan edit link includes the URL parameter "edit". This parameter instructs the server to respond with the latest version of the edited resource and, optionally, lock it until the updated contents are uploaded. The client is then expected to immediately forward the contents to a text editor, and submit the...
When setting up an account for Bubble, what is it that the client must do to be successful? Same with login. My 'number one' browser supports gopher/gemini but I'm unable to login to this site and others as I'm not sure what is actually required to A) create an account and B) login I'm hoping to rasie a bug report for it.
Geolocation — I got curious on which continents users of bbs.geminispace.org are located so I wounder if the status page could show that?
Updated to Bubble v8.6: Several improvements related to presentation of empty feeds. Instead of a placeholder text, you now get a set of helpful tips to get started with Bubble. These are only shown in Bubble feeds when logged in so they won't show up in, say, search engine results. An empty feed page will now hide all the actions that are irrelevant when there are no entries to view, sort or search. Empty Atom feeds are no longer corrupted by placeholder text. Added a 💎 Gemstone avatar.
@skyjake any chance of adding a feature to allow adding posts to a favorites/read later/bookmark type list?
How many users are there on Bubble? How many *active* users are there, besides? I appreciate this community and would like to admire its growth.
