Incorrect number of comments shown on main page

A recent post by @AlexusBlack shows 2 comments, when I go there, only one exists...

The comment count shown in the feed is precomputed and stored in the database to improve performance. I think there is at least one situation where it is not properly updated, but haven't tracked it down.

When a new comment is added, the count will be refeshed.

OK, wanted to make sure you know because occasionally see this.

I have posted to the thread and it now reads 3 while 2 comments are visible.

Ah, there was a draft comment in the thread that was mistakenly being included in the count. Fixed now.
