Suggestion: Treat notifications for new threads differently

When I go to my notifications to look at a new thread, what I'll do is open the "user posted" notification and then scroll the page to see its comments. But that doesn't mark the notifications for comments in those posts as read, so I have to either open them manually or clear all. I'd like it if when I open a new post notification, all of its comments are also marked as read with it.

The condition for automatically clearing a notification is that the user clicks on the notification link. Just visiting posts that have notifications does not clear anything.

I'll consider implementing your suggestion of clearing the "commented on" notifications when opening a "posted" notification. It's still a bit risky because one might not actually read the full thread at the time, so notifications might get missed accidentally.
