Okay so two odd dreams last night... 1st. I was queuing for the till/register at a store when I was approached by Vladimir Putin who asked "Do you sleepwalk?". I initially said " No" before correcting with "I did a couple of times as a child, but I don't now." Then I think I was kidnapped by him and after I escaped I was going around a green but urban area trying to inform someone that Putin was about and needed dealing with. 2nd. I was in a bar and Kate Middleton was sat at another table. I...

Thinking of trying the Carnivore Diet in the New Year. Is there anyone one on here who has been doing Carnivore long-term that could share their experience with it? I know the first couple of weeks can be rough as your gut adjusts but how have you found it after that? Any health issues cleared up? Increased muscle mass/volume? General tips?

chawan v0.3 and error message — So I’ve been running chawan v0.2.2 for a while now, good little browser. Since version v0.3 chawan got hint support, that’s right, just like vimperator used to. so today, I compiled the latest nim (2.2.6) and chawan (g73577b5d). with: make TARGET=release j=4 the browser builds and functions ok, but during run time it gives out tons of error message about ‘please move xxxfunction to your own namespace to avoid name clashes’. So I tried to rollback to the v0.3...

Now you can securely publish your web content on your web server and give third parties a hard time to tamper with your content. This is useful, for example, if others had copied your content and claim it is their original work. Due to timestamps you can always proof that you securely published *your* content.

Strawberry's new outfit and more — I got my Lafufu's outfits yesterday, and I'm happy with how cute Strawberry looks in this outfit. (I was originally going to give her this cute pink lolita dress, but I don't want to use amazon prime tbh.) I also got one of these for 20 dollars from Amazon, and one of these won't appear in the mail until later this month to january 21st. I'm not sure if I'll customize these things, which ever color I get, I hope to get a pink or white one. UPDATE: I'm new...

You got a screwdriver - Indinna — Another geography girl drawing, I may end up making a compilation post of all my other geography girl drawings too, and to mainly be less tedious, but I may end up posting all the drawings on my Gemsync page, it's a little outdated since I updated it, so yeah. Also, here's Indinna with a screwdriver. (I guess I'll make her into a tech nerd type character)

I've been so busy, I just wanna draw! But I also want to make music. And keep learning Java. And make a new https website. And make more ASCII/ANSI art. And keep a somewhat-daily journal running on gemini. And learn how to make a CGI script. And do my work. And play Quake with my friends. And hang out in more internet places. And sleep.

class about why and how to read books — so there was this recording of a class at armenian academy of art, and the teacher was discussing books, why to read them. he said let's take this book, about robinson crusoe. what do you think it is about? and students were saying: it is a book about will to live, about how a single human can overcome terrible difficulties. then the teacher suggested to ask ai. someone asked and have read loudly, about the same but with some inaccuracies about the...

Peaceful or war? — It’s been a long time since I last visited planet Earth, and I don’t have good memories of it. I remember people fighting just to get a decent job. I remember a place where money always came first. And I remember that friendships were often just a matter of convenience. Has Earth changed during the time I’ve been so far from it? The only thing I sometimes think about is the beautiful days kissed by the sun, sitting in the garden and reading in peace. Is that still possible...

On Grandstanding on BBS — [gemini link] Re: On Labels [gemini link] the discussion that caused all this Weighing in the risk of escalating the drama vs. having a safe, hate-free place for discussions, I cannot remain silent in light of recent abuse of BBS and myself. BBS is a place I've enjoyed since its birth, to exchange opinions with other Geminauts. It's value is very much in the ease of starting and continuing discussions with others. Sometimes we agree, other times we don't. Occasionally...

Recommendation: Dead on Mars — Hi, wanted to share a web novel I read a long time ago, and really enjoyed. Dead on Mars, by Skyray Descriptor. It's relatively small, at only 251 chapters. (One can easily find the book by doing a search on their favourite search engine) Synopsis: Payload specialist, Tang Yue, who is a mechanical and electrical engineer by training, is left stranded on Mars when he receives news from his AI robot assistant, Old Cat, that Earth has exploded. He believes...

Approaching dystopia. How did we get here? — I miss the days where people didn’t self-censor on the internet out of fear they were being watched, where anonymity (even if only perceived) was sacrosanct. I miss public forums where most people followed the golden rule, but bad people could still be bad because platforms only banned content that actually broke the law. It was the public square. Today I see ads everywhere. Bloat everywhere. Proprietary software (often spyware) everywhere. This...

It's after Thanksgiving here in the US so it must be time for a Christmas-time story. Though I've slightly embellished the storytelling, this actually happened and my daughters (and granddaughter) have ever since asked me to tell it again. [gemini link] Wolfgang the Blue-nosed Reindeer

On Labels — This feature has apparently been added to various sites over the years, often called badges or flairs, and I just wanted to take a detailed look at reasons cited for why this feature is often added, and why I feel the are overall horrible and extremely unethical when used as forms of punishment or a labelling of other people. The Benefits of Badges Labels and badges can be useful for identifying roles or characteristics about a person that this person wants to share with the...
