So it's starting to warm up outside the half_elf_monastery, and I'm thinking about cleaning off the grill. It always gets gross over the winter. Does anyone have tips for how to clean one off ...without getting yourself or your clothes super gross in the process? One year I ruined a shirt because months-old-grease got all over it.

Dunno if this is the forum for it, but I'm having technical problems running an AI locally on my debian-based linux system, and I wonder if you can help. I tried one of the smaller ollama models because that's what my resource-strapped computer could handle. Yet the language model is misbehaving, or the interpreter is. It keeps crashing. Whenever I try to listen to music (on my fave music player) while interacting with the LLM, the program hard crashes with an unusual exit code. It literally will not let me listen to music and chat at the same time. Finally, after checking the logs, I found this message: WINAMP. IT REALLY WHIPS OLLAMA'S ASS.

Silly question, but maybe some of you can help me. What are the implications of Let's Encrypt offering (it seems?) certificates for IP addresses? (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/03/certbot-and-lets-encrypt-now-support-ip-address-certificates _) I don't think this matters for gemini capsules, but I'm curious what other services this might affect. I guess it makes self-hosting on https cheaper, but it's not like it's going to make emailing to IP addresses possible, right?

Oh HECK no: https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/SB26-051 Colorado legislation requiring *Operating System*-level API that will respond with any given user's age-bracket information. This bill is under consideration in colorado. If you (or a VPN you know) lives in CO, please say something to those legislators along the lines of: "If you wanted to protect children, you should release the epstein files, and reduce the rates of SA in public schools, instead of creating more dystopian surveillance pathways like this."

Question: where is the friction to getting some of the more well-used gemini tools into wider distribution? I.e., why aren't there more browsers or servers in apt/aur/f-droid? That alone might drive more regular use. Or is it better to keep the protocol to people who can figure out how to "make install"? Genuinely curious here.

Does anyone here have experience with image sorting software? Let's say I want to run a server in the basement of the Half_Elf_Monastery, so all its residents can have common access to pictures we take, and we can commonly sort them by date/event/etc. I'd like to avoid Big Data cloud storage like google photos. Anyone have experience with software that does this well?

I want a browser add-on (firefox or chromium) that scans the content of a webpage, and determines the liklihood that it was generated by a bot. Some of these "answer" pages with "info" are so, so bad. They don't present the information in a logical structure, or build on what's been written previously... it's like a series of chatGPT2 outputs strung together with 70mb of javascript. If I could be warned as the page loads (or better yet, before clicking the link), it would save my time, and everyone's electrical resources. Is there anything like that out there right now?

Question: when I see those flags/warnings that say that a site' s certificate has changed... what am I supposed to do? Is there a repository of places where people can register and say "yep, that was me who changed it" or "nope, I didn't change my certificate, so watch out" ?

I'm interested in a wearable step-counter that doesn't come with privacy issues. Step-counting could be done entirely locally, without even needing a smartphone. Do any of you know of one that works? What's your experience been?
