It's some 27C in my apartment, and rising. I drink hot, black coffee at my desk while getting blasted by a cheap, plastic fan from the 80s. I suffer, and it's my own doing.
In other news, I've been playing Pentiment. It's really interesting to learn about the peasant revolts, the 12 articles, the different Christian sects... I think I want to read Umberto Eco's Name of the Rose, soon...

@drmollytov Been reading Name of the Rose, now, and the prose is really impressive. A 210 word sentence describing the architecture of the doorway to the church and the tympanum overhead. I read with a dictionary in one hand, hah. · 4 months ago
@tomi It's about to get worse. You can techniiically get a rent discount /when/ it reaches above 30C, but I don't dare bother the landlord for it. I sleep with a fan at my feet.
It's very nice outside, though. We don't get a ton of sun here, so the couple weeks of real summer are a welcome change. · 5 months ago
27C seems high and unsupportable when you are not used to it but here I am with the aircon at 25 and I feel cold after several weeks of summer. 29 felt great while cycling outside in the evening yesterday. · 5 months ago
@drmollytov It's pretty interesting, but definitely slow going. Interesting for its historical context, but the narrative flow is a trickle. I look forward to Name of the Rose, after. I also got Foucault's Pendulum and a few others, though I think those'll have to wait a moment. · 5 months ago
I've read The Name of the Rose several times (highly recommend). A friend recommended Pentiment but I haven't tried it yet. Sounds like I should.... · 5 months ago
