I hate the computer mouse. It and the associated interface are the worst thing that could have happened to the personal computer. I dare say the only thing worse than a mouse is a touchscreen.

@sava you know you have "Home" and "End" buttons on your keyboard too. You can also keep pgup/pgdown pressed instead of hitting it repeatedly :) · 5 months ago
Touch screens are just awful, and the worst part about them to me is they're being shoved into places that add no benefit or are even a little dangerous. One of the biggest strengths of physical buttons and switches is that they offer tactile feedback, so one can operate them without looking at them. In my 2003 car, I can change the radio station and adjust the air conditioner controls without taking my eyes off the road. In my wife's 2021 car, I have to look away from the road to navigate a virtual menu on what amounts to an Android tablet. Touch screens should be banned from all road vehicles. · 5 months ago
@eph plan9 is different, perfect combination of mouse and keyboard, most underestimated OS eever · 5 months ago
There's also wireless Mice too.
(I'm hoping to get used to the Vieb browser(Vim Browser), since I'm used to using a mouse to scroll through pages and stuff, I'm used to using the keyboard sometimes for web surfing and making art, but it's a bit of a learning curve · 5 months ago
I dunno, have you tried Plan 9’s mouse chording? I’ve had a love affair with the 3-button mouse ever since 😝 · 5 months ago
Mfka just use i3 you aint need no mouse fo that shiiiiiii · 5 months ago
I'm with @bavarianbarbarian. Simply use a tiling windowmanager, mostly TUI applications and maybe Qutebrowser, which can entirely be used only with the keyboard. Mice suck. Touchpads even more! · 5 months ago
as @ashnar said ... we were breastfead this way, things evolved with a mouse in mind because of GUI's
I don't mind the terminal, using Page Up or down or the arrow keys but I do things a lot faster with a hand on the keyboard and one on a mouse · 5 months ago
then you should try the ratpoison windowmanager and vimperator, everthing works without a mouse, only keyboard. · 5 months ago
Touch screens and "intuitive" design can just go away. What's the phrase? "nothing is intuitive, even breastfeeding needs to be taught". · 5 months ago
@sava people routinely navigate multiple k-lines of code without a mouse just fine and nobody is pressing tab a trillion times to get to the bottom of the page. Obviously, a world designed for the mouse is awful to navigate without a mouse but a world designed for the sane option, the keyboard, would not be difficult to navigate without a mouse. · 5 months ago
yeah, imagine pressing TAB 20-30 times to reach the bottom of a long page. Why did they think about a mouse ? · 5 months ago
