Anyone out there involved in the "tilde verse"? I am trying to find one to sign up for, but I'm getting no responses.

@userfxnet That sounds really cool. I just signed up! :) · 2 months ago
I was able to join tilde.club after talking to the owner on their IRC channel. · 3 months ago
Thanks for the wealth of information everyone.
@userfxnet done via https form. I will wait. 👍 · 3 months ago
wish I knew...I tried signing up for tilde.club and tilde.team back in like march and never heard back from either one of them. I get it, it's a labor of love etc etc but the least you could do is send an automated response that you received the email. And, if you aren't taking folks without some kinda ref then have the courtesy to state as much on the website. · 3 months ago
edanosborne, thank you :) · 3 months ago
I personally really like ~town! I feel like it's probably the most cozy pubnix, with a pretty big focus on the whole aesthetic of homegrown things, and weird, creative projects that encompass the stuff that you really like!
It does take a while to get an account on there, but everyone on there is super-cool, and I personally think it's definitely worth it · 3 months ago
now that out the way, in terms of other tildes.
I highly recommend either eschew.ai or spuos.net, both resounding fledgling brand new tildes, one with a focus on sidelining LLM with homegrown tech and the other with a support of heavy duty server power.
If you want a user in tilde.club, you might need a word in via a regular user that makes communique with deepend (main admin) over IRC. You can also do so too via the tilde club newnet IRC at their #club room.
others i've heard good things about include tilde.green (also a public misfin host!), tilde.pink, tilde.institute, tilde.town, vern.cc, projectsegfau.lt, for any others - visit cdg.thegonz.net. · 3 months ago
hi hi @ashnar, very active tilde user and pubnix admin here. with some back up to what @edanosborne says, hashnix is a thriving community with a range of services and users. I should know - I'm the admin!
I'm usually very responsive, if you'd like to register via web form (https://hashnix.club/register) or we have a mail-in form via gemini as well you can send to my email or misfin.
edan makes an astute observation that the VPS for hashnix is US-based, but the host itself is provided courtesy of Contabo which is based in Germany. At this moment, we have the one server, but soon will make greater accomodations when time and resources are further available. · 3 months ago
@roughnecks SDF stands for "Super Dimensional Fortress" · 3 months ago
First signed up with ~green, I think it only took them a day to get back to me. ~club was a little longer (A week?) while ~town was the longest, I think it took around two months for them to respond.
I would say that it really just depends on how much free time the specific admins have to process requests. · 3 months ago
little OT. edanosborne, what does "SDF" mean? I saw that on mastodon too, but couldn't fine any reasonable explanation..
About my experience, I'm signed on tilde.team since a while now, but I'm seeing it falling apart; I asked for my account to be deleted, by sending an email from my tilde account itself.. never got a reply. I'm still in :( · 3 months ago
recently signed up to tilde.green. I think it took a week or so · 3 months ago
I'm signed up with dimension.sh (Rocky Linux) and tilde.institute (OpenBSD) · 3 months ago
I am. Hashnix is a very nice tilde with some lovely people. It also offers web hosting, gemini, gopher, email, and misfin. However, it's hosted in the USA, which may be an issue for some people.
SDF (USA) and SDF EU (Germany) are the big ones, which have been around for a very long time; though I'm not sure if they count as tildes (I'm not actually sure what the difference is between a tilde and a pubnix). They offer quite a lot of services and software, including USENET access. · 3 months ago
it... can take some time. From memory, I'd say tilde.green might have been the fastest-responding one. Maybe?
my story was: asked tilde.club, then read that it could take months, so I asked several others just in case it would take months in all of them. the next week I had accounts in a bunch of them :|
I've also witnessed other periods where people were waiting quite a long time for an admin to find some free time to process requests. So... YMMV, as they say · 3 months ago
