Winamp skins library — This is fueling my nostalgia today. Also quick PSA winamp seems to still be a pretty capable media player - it's handling my FLAC's and other media types just fine.
Hello everyone 👋 ! Also new around here. Been playing a bit with my own capsule and this morning finally got it working as a single repo where I can write and publish on the interwebs and the smallweb from a single place, and using the same domain 🤓. [gemini link]
Eventually decided to make account here. Hi all!
thanks to those still using DSN Antenna
Gemini over https — Does Lagrange support gemtext over https?
"News" of Biden's incompetence is appearing in mainstream... — Who's been running the US for the last few years? This is complete banana republic stuff -- a figurehead that had "bad days" as early as 2021... Who is spending trillions of dollars, pardoning people, selling steel slated for the wall for 5 cents on the dollar, and starting wars in multiple countries? WTF?
Rotate A Cow -- using your brain — [gemini link] I was really surprised when I did it the first time. I think everyone can do it. Let me know how it works for you!

Cams — I'm away often and considered setting up some cameras. any advice or words of warning? I almost bought a few double decker ESP 32 cams but then decided to ask here first
I made a very small Gentoo installation guide — [gemini link]
State diffing for undo? — Let's say I can identify all the parts of the program that need to interact with undo/redo system, and put all of them into a single contiguous chunk of memory. Then, when someone creates an undo point, I just calculate a diff over that memory, more or less. What I'm interested in is, in your experience, is there a downside to this approach? The program doesn't do any network requests or database connections (and won't, for the forseeable future). Rn I'm using a system...
By continue e-ink theme, what about browsers for Gemini protocol? I wonder if nobody wrote yet

Starting from today, maybe pausing with Yoda (as enough of features for me) and switching to another uncompleted project - open source alternative to the TES Legends game. Thoughts write it in Rust, maybe first client version would be released for Geminispace, as yet not experienced in Gamedev UI. Ping me if you're interested in this kind of card games - I'm working on backend mostly and looking for teamates!
I have one abandoned idea to make video player for pocket book yes, for e-ink screen. it would be not exactly video, but maybe some alternative kind of media: b/w scenes slideshow with audio background. don't even ask me for the `why`
Port Of Miami Explosion -- thoughts on safety — I've complained a lot about the fire hazards of lithium batteries. Recently a container with several EVs exploded in the port of Miami. The most likely cause is a Tesla that was previously flooded with salt water. However all the cars in the container (4, I think) had some damage, and very minor damage such as a fender bender can crack the battery case, turning a car into a timebomb. Part of the problem was blamed on the inability to shut down...
My contributions of the day — I am a package maintainer for the Alpine Linux project. I find it very easy to contribute, the toolchain is nice and the community is welcoming. Here is today's list of my contributions: upgrade community/appprise to version 1.9.1 submission of new package for gmcapsule submission of new package for cortex-tenant A very productive day.
Hey there!!! Do you guys wanna know a fun fact about psychopharmacology? Also, Ask a question and I’ll try to answer the best I can!!!
switched to Gentoo — hello, I just switched to Gentoo and it's been good. I learned about USE flags and how to unmask a certain package. I know there is a lot more to learn but right now as a newbie there is so much I could do. I haven't enabled the "guru" overlay but I would need it to run waydroid.
My retreat back to life before about 2010 continues: I'm dusting off my old Zune and trying to learn how to enjoy music again. Foobar2000 and apple's AAC encoder are helping me finally whip my media library into shape.
Finally have my new gemini domain up and running - come check it out at [gemini link]
My Battlestation — For a number of years I've had to code in a number of places, and I settled on some version of this: a comfortable overstuffed chair some means of holding a screen in front of my face a mechanical keyboard on my lap I hate desks, as they immediately become cluttered and distracting. I can't imagine a keyboard not in my lap. My wrists are so much better now. I can generally come up with some version of this for well under $100 (claiming an existing chair or couch) anywhere I...
A while back I read a post (which I'm pretty sure was on Gemini) about a person who created a wallet-sized calendar. The card functioned similarly to a perpetual calendar: it had 31 numbered days on the top half, and the bottom half indicated which days of the week lined up with the numbers based on month. I'd like to save my own copy of the calendar, but now I can't find the post. Does anyone have a link?
Weird Car Ads — I just saw an insanely stupid Volvo ad, which seems to imply that its 'advanced sensing technology' identifies when a woman becomes pregnant. I don't know what kind of ***theads create car ads these days, and I thought that after that unfortunate Jaguar ad fiasco they would learn something, but apparently no. I wish they would stick with cars and stay out of our business of being gay or making babies.
