Winamp skins library

This is fueling my nostalgia today. Also quick PSA winamp seems to still be a pretty capable media player - it's handling my FLAC's and other media types just fine.

GUI Linux users should check out QMMP. It supports winamp skins and the look and feel is all there. I realized that WinAmp, or a good clone, was what was keeping me from playing my local music collection more. QMMP is also available for the 3 of us running Haiku.

I should clarify the LACK of WinAmp was what was keeping me from playing my local music more.

speaking of nostalgia, I do miss "owning" things like physical or digital media. I buy blu rays of holiday movie classics so I don't have to rent a 40+ year old movie every year.

Winamp ... It really whips the llama's ass!

@gritty Physical media is a social responsibility. Capitalism dictates that art's worth is directly proportional to the amount of money it makes. It is treated like property, like common stock, to be traded for maximum profit. If an edit makes it more marketable, it will be done, perhaps against the artist's wishes if they won't play ball. You own a copy, it can't be taken from you, can't be edited, moved, removed, replaced, and so forth. We're conditioned to not value art with cheap streaming services, throwaway pop media, yet the property owners treat it as precious and viciously pursue those who deny them their rights. TLDR: don't get me started.

@darkghost all good points. I have little faith that humans will avoid the convenience of streaming services and cloud hosting. I used to rewatch dvds, but rarely do so now with streaming services. there's so/too much new content.

I fall into these trappings as well. I think the best compromise is when you hear that song that defines a moment in your life, or see that show you can't stop thinking about, grab a copy, so you can return to it.
