Rambles
The nickname Rev comes from the time I thought it would be really funny to get ordained as a minister through the Universal Life Church on a whim one night many years ago. I have gotten some mileage out of it and my honourary doctorate of metaphysics.
I've spent my whole life in a tiny corner of Southeast Queensland, Australia, and the climate here has melted my brain. I'm a parent to two kids; One high schooler and one 5th grader. I have an incredibly handsome and clever and talented partner. We also have three cats. I'm a full-time knowledge worker/investigator in the renewable energy sector. I specialise in supply chain tracing WRT product safety recalls.
I've been a teacher's aide, a housekeeper, a cashier, and a carer. I moved out of home and started doing life on my own when I was 15, and became a mum for the first time at 17. As a result of growing up quick, I'm enjoying a second childhood now as an adult. I'm perpetually nostalgic and enjoying all the stuff I missed out on now, years after everyone else has moved on.
I'm neurodivergent and have PTSD. My doctor says I have fibromyalgia and I think he's talking out of his ass. I've taken a DIY approach to managing my physical and mental health in recent years because doctors are not great with complex issues concerning AFAB people. If it weren't current year they would diagnose me with hysteria, but as it is current year they must use euphemism. I get by alright.
I started to get interested in computing and the indie web in 2022 and made the jump from Windows to Linux around September of that year. I started to disconnect from the corporate botnet gradually, and while it's been a little isolating, it's a marked improvement on the experience of using shit like Facebook and Twitter. You couldn't pay me to go back. I still have a lot to learn, and I mostly bumble my way through blindly without a lot of technical skill.
When I'm not dicking around on the computer, you'll find me knitting, journalling, beyblading, or journalling about beyblades. I also really like Furbies, Tamagotchi, fibre arts, and collecting silly little trinkets. I like fashion and interior design. I am not particularly interested in watching movies and TV shows, and I don't play many video games. I am usually listening to music or podcasts. I read a fair bit, and I'm more interested in non-fiction than fiction.
Politically, I'm a leftist of a more anarchist bent. I cannot say that I enjoy learning or thinking about politics, but I am compelled to do so regardless. I don't know that I fit neatly into a specific tendency or descriptor. I'm mostly just tired of capitalism and believe that stronger cultural and community ties are more effective than a punitive legal system at discouraging anti-social behaviour.
In addition to the above, I also flit between active practice and passive contemplation of a variety of occult and esoteric disciplines. Wanky way of saying I'm an on-again off-again armchair philosopher and occasional diviner. My favourite divination methods are geomancy, osteomancy, and bibliomancy. I might write about these in the future.
This might get explanded as I ramble more, but this is probably more than enough information for now. If you're still hungry for more, you can also check out:
