My Closet
A while ago I got rid of 90% of my clothes to build my ideal intentional wardrobe. I value my physical comfort very highly and I'm a total sensory princess. I won't wear anything that's uncomfortable no matter how good it looks. I have a few very comfortable versatile pieces that I can mix and match to create different outfits. This makes packing to go away very easy, and eliminates the need to decide what to wear every day.
I own:
- 1 Pair of PJ's (soft cotton shorts and nightshirt)
- 1 grey dressing gown
- 5 pairs black ankle socks
- 5 pairs cotton undies
- 2 pairs black leggings
- 1 pair black cargo pants
- 2 black tank tops
- 1 olive green tank (runched sides. a bit dressier)
- 1 black bolero (Foxblood Signature bolero)
- 1 olive green coat
- 1 grey Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hoodie
- 1 grey sweater
- 1 fluffy black scarf
- 1 pair black fingerless gloves
- 1 olive green bikini top for the pool
- 1 yellow and black 2-piece bohemian style co-ord pants and tube top
- 1 pair black ballet flats
- 1 pair black heeled boots
- 1 pair black flat ankle boots
- 1 pair pool slides
I just wear the same accessories almost every day. I have a bunch of ear piercings (lobes & cartilage), a nose ring and a labret ring. I have a glasses chain on my glasses. I wear a necklace with a little heart pendant and two USB flash drives on it.
I almost never wear makeup, but when I do, I will dust some black eyeshadow along my lash lines, apply some mascara, and maybe a lipstick (black or deep red) or gloss (pink) and call it a day. No foundation or concealer because I hate how it feels on my skin.
I used to have an overflowing wardrobe and piles and piles of cosmetics, and I was miserable. I was very insecure about my appearance and unhappy with the way I presented myself. Now with the above, I am highly satisfied with my presentation in any situation. I can go from the office to a dinner date with a change of shoes and a swipe of lipstick. What I like and what works for me might not work for you, but I would highly recommend anybody go through your wardrobe and take anything you don't love to the thrift store. Life is too short to hang on to stuff that doesn't make you feel good. This applies to clothes just as much as it applies to habits and relationships.
