An open and complex philosophical question: What does freedom mean to you? And do you feel like a “free person”?

It means having rights that fulfill your basic needs, and being able to exercize those rights without fear. And no I do not feel like a free person. Not only do I lack certain rights, I cannot exercize my rights without fear. For that reason I live a subterranian existence. · 2 months ago

No restrictions. No obligations. Though that's a bit of fairy tale these days. · 2 months ago
free? if i don't have a restriction on things i'm doing. and i don't feel free cause family, gov and uni restricts me from many things... (like f.e. having a proper gemini server and my max rn is having laptop on for few hours a day - aka something like 50% to 75% of downtime) · 2 months ago
There's a fascinating etymological connection between the words "free" and "friend." Both ultimately relate to one's kinship group in contrast to slaves, meaning something like "dear" or "beloved." What I take from this is that freedom of association is the fundamental idea, that it is about being able to belong to a circle of loved ones. I suppose this puts me in the positive liberty camp. · 2 months ago
