AI is still a brand new technology in many ways, and yet somehow, it already feels like it's getting worse and less accurate every day. Today DuckDuckGo's search assist gave me flat-out incorrect syntax for an AWK statement, and yesterday it told me one of the biggest manufacturers of Android smartphones was Apple.

assuming the current paradigm will ever get around the current quagmire, this is like buying a {current_year} model vehicle; your gonna have a lot of recalls in your future. Best to buy an older car with all the nonsense already sorted out. · 3 months ago

I always use DuckDuckGo Lite, so I don't see any of those suggestions. I feel like they must be using a very low-parameter model, which would make sense considering most people won't even look at what it says and will scroll past to the results.

I've been wanting to dip into more AWK by the way! It seems like a very useful tool. :) · 3 months ago

Search engines are promoting the worst LLM implementation available. Code suggestions are among the worst type of results even on real LLM providers, and and about linux commands it seems they haven't RTFM. · 3 months ago
