I finally finished The Name of the Rose. Dense! Basically a work of poetry, philosophy, and church history in the guise of a murder mystery. Slowest I've ever read a novel. Must've taken four hours for the last 100 pages, jeez. I'm almost convinced I have to learn Latin, now... Where's my damn LLPSI...

@hyena I really recommend it. It'll not be as difficult as I made it sound to someone whose native tongue is English, but there's a lot of very specialised ecclesiastical language and latin. You can just imagine me, huddled over a dictionary as phrases like "chryselephantine diptych" are thrown around every four words. · 4 months ago
