Hello! By chance, I have recovered the gemurl program and have updated and uploaded it to my repository on Codeberg. [https link] Source Code [gemini link] Gemlog post about the rescue of that great tool. Regards!
What's a good browser for Gopher (preferably one that can work on android too)? I've been using Lagrange to look at gopher holes and gemini capsules since I'd like to be able to view both crossplatform in one application, but I wonder if there's something that's just specifically better for Gopher, unless Lagrange is good enough for that too.
when people mention people with @ character, do they get notified? is that handled or ignored by the software? so is that just a cultural thing people do or it has a sense?
barev - a chat protocol and implementation for yggdrasil network — so some time ago i tried and managed to use bonjour (xep-0174) over yggdrasil network. however it had lots of limitations. so i decided to go by other way. i have forked pidgin bonjour plugin and turned it in to barev plugin. now statuses, avatars, file transfers, and lots of features are supported. i am planning also to make a crossplatform desktop ui program, as well as android application.
Alhena 4.5.7 — Alhena 4.5.7 is out. New features including true streaming on all protocols and five optional audio visualizations. You can turn off streaming (and gain seek) if you're philosophically opposed for whatever reason. That said, it's a better experience and the only way to listen to Gemini and/or HTTP "radio" stations. GitHub now has a link to the native compiled version for Linux users. I wasn't sure if it I'd continue with it since the build process requires a thorough run through...
Offline Wikipedia Browser? — Wikipedia is mostly text. Yes, there are images too. Why isn't there some kind of local program that lets users browse the encyclopedia offline? I'll grant that it's not too much data overhead on the internet, but still. It could get monthly syncs with wikipedia archives (they let you export a .tar.gz of the whole site iirc) as updates. It could hyperlink internally, and open web browsers for external links. There'd be less telemetry all around, since everything is...
I've come to truly despise the internet for the most part — It just feels like the whole thing is such a God damned cesspit and one of the worst things we've recently created despite all of the info it serves and allowing me to be friends with someone in some way instead of nothing at all, given my predicament and has let some of the worst 'people' of all kinds connect with each other better when they never should've been able to and condemned to rot in their pits. I'm sorry about this rant but...
Just checking out how this thing works.
pop that bubble — the best text about ai i have ever read
Do you browse the Geminispace with a GUI, TUI, or CLI client? — CLI = run in terminal with parameters to load a single page and immediately and automatically exit upon output, TUI = run in terminal once to load and navigate many pages in succession
Less doom-mongering and More jesus-only worship. — I'm looking forward to never hearing about people and online activist types doom-mongering about how the world is ending and nonsense like that on 2026, it's probably going to get worse, which I'm not looking forward too tbh. I already know President 45 is going to do some scummy stuff as always. Whatever honestly...I just wish people online just quit it with the doom and gloom crap. I already know the human world isn't getting better, you...
Gemini Space Station As always originally named .. Investors in Gemini Space Station finally had something to really cheer about, after the cryptocurrency exchange finally received approval to get into the prediction-markets business.
Random tactic on Gemini — The capsule features random chess tactic from Chess dot Com. Each is given a name. Updates as you enter it. [gemini link] Expired Certificate

Chess on Gemini — Looks like it's not lively, huh? [gemini link] I think without time control the games are problematic. The best option is just playing in a thread somewhere on Station or BBS. You can also chat though but the game requires an additional board or analysis page opened.
new tilde — just discovered orbitaloutpost.club
Hey! Me again :-) I have another question, how can I skip the certificate errors/warnings when using `lagrange -d`? I mean, for my script I need it to download the .gmi file and then process it, but sometimes I get a message like this: [preformatted] How can I avoid this? Especially since in the graphical interface I already have certificate warnings disabled? Thanks!
Recommend One Book — Greetings. I am from “out of town”, a sort of diplomat. Please recommend one book to familiarize me with the basic fundamentals of the human experience. This will aid greatly in my mission of understanding and communication. Thank you. - Sirius Bob
Hello Geminispace! What's shaking?
Beasts, Biotech, Diesel, and Anomalies — This is my world building project that tells the story of a world of anthropomorphic animals with the theme of 1920s to 1950s retrofuturism, and borderline out of control biotechnology (think cruelty squad but calmed/toned down) and anomalous phenomena being tracked and researched by shadowy groups across the world. While retrofuturism is what I'm taking inspiration from, I am not calling it punk of any kind. While the aesthetic I'm going for might be...
I understand that it's a huge privacy risk, but does anyone else like going to shitty chatbot character sites like Janitor AI and tormenting the bots with nonsense?
stream shutdown error — 2025-12-09 23:04:21 [0] -- Problem: [('SSL routines', '', 'packet length too long'), ('SSL routines', '', 'record layer failure')] stream shutdown error: [('SSL routines', '', 'shutdown while in init')] How comes logs have no remote IP address? I don't have any other clue on why/how this is happening.
Foressa — My attempt at making a mix of a forest creature, and a human. Please enjoy. And uh, I'm not sure what else to type here, other than I enjoy the idea of mixing animals and monsters together. I'm also liking forest creatures in general recently as well. Since I like readign about different folktale monsters too.
