Do you use Discord on your Steam Deck? Personally, I've always run with the built-in Steam voice chat feature when I use my Steam Deck, but Discord is my go-to for voice chatting elsewhere, so maybe it's time to make the switch there, too? When Valve unveiled the upcoming Steam Machine lineup, some gamers noticed that the official specification mentions HDMI 2.0 instead of HDMI 2.1 – the more modern standard that appeared in 2017. According to the company, the hardware actually supports HDMI 2.1, but full implementation of the format is complicated by Linux drivers, which are currently undergoing refinement.

When Valve announced its upcoming Steam Machine hardware last month, some eagle-eyed gamers may have been surprised to see that the official spec sheet lists support for HDMI 2.0 output, rather than the updated, higher-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 standard introduced in 2017. Now, Valve tells Ars that, while the hardware itself actually supports HDMI 2.1, the company is struggling to offer full support for that standard due to Linux drivers that are “still a work-in-progress on the software side.”

Retro gaming handheld with Android and Linux dual OS just got launched by Abxylute with an introductory offer

↺ Retro gaming handheld with Android and Linux dual OS just got launched by Abxylute with an introductory offer
As far as retro gaming handhelds go, Abxylute is a pretty popular brand among enthuisasts. Its devices may not be as popular as something like the Steam Deck or ASUS’s range of ROG Ally handhelds, but if you’re looking for something much cheaper – ideal for emulation or Android games – then the new E1 Retro Gaming Handheld is a solid option for just $69.
You’d usually have to pay up to $89 for this hybrid Linux/Android machine, but an introductory offer knocks down the asking price for a limited time. Abxylute recently announced the E1’s launch, calling it a “truly versatile” device that comes pre-installed with Linux emulators, so you can get straight to gaming.
