Summary: Letting oneself be represented by one’s enemy a growing issue in the Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) world

There have been numerous reports recently which cite the FUD source as an authority in FOSS. One site said that “Black Duck survey and the Linux Collaboration Summit both show that open-source software and the open-source method are moving well beyond where you think they live, and into all businesses.” Here is another such report. Black Duck, a proprietary software company, is being hailed as a messenger for FOSS. Just the other day we named the danger of this and we can still see Univa, another such firm, driving the news about FOSS. Univa is a proprietary software company which pays to trash FOSS. Don’t let the proprietary software world groom itself as flag bearer for FOSS. It’s a recipe for disaster. █
