●● John Dragoon is Leaving Novell Amid Fallout

Summary: The last among four “Linux” companies which signed a treasonous patent deal with Microsoft is sold or dismantled

Like any company which becomes a Microsoft partner, Novell has just died. And the staff exodus begins. “After nearly 2,740 days at this great company, it’s time to say goodbye,” writes Dragoon, the company’s CMO, on which his friend says: “It’s a safe — though not confirmed — bet that additional Novell executives have left the company now that the sale to Attachmate is official.”

A longtime Novell apologist, Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols, gives Microsoft credit oddly enough:

The Attachmate/Novell deal could have not have been made without Microsoft’s help. Attachmate, a rather sleepy company over the last decade, simply didn’t have the resources to buy Novell.

Yes, Microsoft played a role in having Novell bought by AttachMSFT and then taking Novell’s patents. We already know that Microsoft uses patents offensively and perhaps illegally. █
