Those earbuds are doing well
2025-12-07
It's been exactly six months. It's been going well and I can do a little reflecting on my time with them.
In my original post, I wondered if I would get used to the feeling of these earbuds in my ears. The answer is yes, and my pinnae no longer feel sore from wearing these.
One interesting consequence, though, is that the right earbud always ends up a bit wonky from how I wear it. These earbuds have replaceable silicone fins, intended to keep it secure while I wear them. However, when I pull my earbuds out, the left one's fin is in place as expected, but the right one tends to end up a bit crooked. I notice that I tend to have to push and twist harder to get the right earbud to seal properly, so I'm guessing that's probably why. I guess my ears are a bit asymmetrical.
I also mentioned that these were handy during hot days. Now that it's cold where I am, I can now confirm that they're also handy during cold days. They're easy to wear underneath a winter hat. The hat being in constant contact with the earbuds does cause a bit of noise from rubbing, though.
Bluetooth pairing. It's tolerable. These earbuds are comfortable enough and their noise cancellation good enough that I often want to use them on a PC instead of keeping them paired to my phone. Unfortunately, they don't do that cool thing high-end earbuds do where they can get sound from multiple paired devices, nor can they quickly pair with a device by tapping the charging case to that device. I have had to settle for just occasionally passing through the Bluetooth settings of whichever phone/laptop/desktop PC I'm using.
The earbuds' battery life is fine. I'd be tired of having them in my ears before they would actually run out of charge.
Oh yeah, and the latency is pretty bad. Not a good choice for gaming, so it's a good thing I have better options when I have games to play.
