So, a moment ago, I just deleted a post of mine that asked why I was getting notifications for posts that have polls in them, even though I wasn't following them.

It turns out that the answer to this is that there is an option on the notification settings page for exactly this!

Simply untick the "New poll is posted" option if you don't want to be notified of new polls.
