Distrohopping weekend — Last weekend was a lot of fun. I wanted to try out Plasma 6, at the time I had Pop_OS! 22.04, so first I tried to upgrade to the 24.04 alpha version of Pop. I must say that the results were pretty bad. The updater goes blind, it doesn't show what it's doing and it doesn't allow to cancel the operation. After running for a while, with no hard disk activity, I decided to kill the process, as the usual options didn't work. After that, it was impossible to start the...

I will list a few which interested me so far: - open arena (being fan of quake 3 from childhood, that was.. very pleasant discovery) - 0 a.d. (expected a civ clone, got something more interesting) - openmw (great engine rewrite which also opened doors to more cursed stuff like online mode >:) - Fightcade/GGPOZ (not fully opensource, but good projects on their own - aiming to bring...
Building native UI applications on Linux in the declarative/reactive way? — I like GTK+ visually. It's minimalistic and all applications look organically on one Gnome-based desktop. But when I decided to write an application myself for my favorite OS (Elementary), I went into a stupor. You can only write in Vala+GTK in HORRIBLE imperative style. After a long time programming in [Lisp Racket] and [JS], I can't go back to this. I can't imagine programming without lambdas and stateless...
