Timeouts

I'm going to mention it here, even when I'm not sure whether this is a client or a server thing:

Today playing spellbinding and wordo, I noticed all the clicks were strangely slow, so I took a look at my client's log, and I was seeing all the connections were ending in a timeout.

Should the server send a connection close or something?

I moved this discussion to s/SpellBinding, because it has nothing to do with Fornax (the server I am developing). I am using polluxd, and it appears to be working fine at this point.

It is possible to get occasional network glitches from wifi routers and spotty mobile connections. I used to have them all the time on tildes, but now with its own VPS it seems very fast when I play.

Let me know if it's a persistent problem and we can try to debug it

Ah, my bad. I've been reading posts in bbs a bit diagonally lately, I thought you had said somewhere that you made the server to use it for your games, while you where looking at hosting options.

I clearly mixed it all, sorry.

I'll look into when and how I'm getting those timeouts (to be clear, the games work, the content arrives, but when I click on anything, like 'try again' I have to wait ten seconds or so until the connection times out and my client shows the dialog). I'll try a couple clients as well, and let you know.

thanks!

No worries, thank you for reporting trouble. It's alwasy good to know when things aren't perfect.

You are not that far off. I did say I was planning to make a game server, and I actually have a prototype -- to be unveiled very soon, maybe even today.
