SINGLE REVIEW: The Pigeon Detectives - "Romantic Type"

First published: 2007-02-26

Wouldn’t The Pigeon Detectives be a great idea for a kids TV show?  Kinda like a cross between Dastardley & Muttley’s “Catch the Pigeon”, and Scooby Doo…I’d get up on a Saturday morning to watch that.  As long as it wasn’t soundtracked by the band of the same name; this generic indie-punk clatter would have the nation’s children turning off in their droves.  It’s a familiar story: nu-Leeds five-piece, Steve Lamacq, toured with the Kaisers.  And Romantic Type’s shout-along Paul Wellerisms are pretty familiar too.  Change channels please, I think there’s some paint drying on the other side.
