DEMO REVIEW: Greenwich Resident

First published: 2005-09-28

Another untitled demo review, this time of an artist based in the place I'm now spending most of my days (and nights for that matter - it has a bar), Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

Strings: the last refuge of a bed-wetting songwriter trying to give his compositions some balls. Not so with Greenwich Resident though, who use them to achieve some lush arrangements, complete with harmonica and slide guitar. You’d never guess their lowly unsigned student status either: these are carefully crafted, earthy acoustic songs just like back in the olden days. Imagine a grittier Mercury Rev or a Dylan who could sing, and you're not far off.
