This is just a quick and dirty list of projects involving the fediverse or decentralization that could be promising or turn out to be great.

Pleroma - A twitter-esque decentralized social media service.

PixFed - Federated and decentralized photo-sharing platform.

FunkWhale - Self-hosted music platform.

WriteFreely - Self-hosted blogging/writing platform. Federated. [And on Mastodon](https://writing.exchange/@write_as).

Mastodon - Federated decentralized twitter-esque service.

PeerTube - Decentralized video hosting. Basically a lot like YouTube.

SearX - Privacy respecting, self-hosted, hackable metasearch engine. Searches many search engines for you.

Scuttlebutt - Decentralized 'gossip' protocol based on passing mesages between clients until they reach their destination.

DeltaChat - IM client similar to Discord and Telegram except that it uses email as a back end.
