Slow Servers: Alternatives
Slow Servers comes from the same people (er, guy) behind SporeStack. For some of you, SporeStack is definitely a better fit.
If you want to, you can launch Slow Servers through SporeStack. This is the fastest option as payment handling is already fully automated. Or, you can do it in a more manual way, direct with Slow Servers. Up to you!
SporeStack
We have a number of competitors who may be a good alternative to our hosting, depending on your needs and budget.
This includes hosts that accept cryptocurrency, often without having to provide personal details, or that are at least just no nonsense hosts.
Incognet
Kyun
Cockbox (not a joke!)
Forked Networking
MyNymBox
Mythic Beasts
ARP Networks
IRCNow Homestead VPS
OpenBSD Amsterdam
Crunchbits also offers VPS servers in the same region for less money.
Tornado VPS is another no-nonsense VPS host (Accepts Bitcoin, in Santa Clara, California.)
OpenBSD on OpenBSD
If you want to host OpenBSD on OpenBSD, as far as we know, the two other hosts are IRCNow and OpenBSD Amsterdam.
OpenBSD Amsterdam is the gold standard. If you don't need to pay with cryptocurrency and Amsterdam is a good location, go with them first.
IRCNow has been around longer and is a good option based out of Houston, Texas.
Slow Servers may have a few of its own advantages compared to either of them, but both are worth considering.
ARPNetworks doesn't use OpenBSD for a hypervisor, but they have been very BSD friendly over the years and they're a great host to work with.
Slow Servers' external monitoring + DNS servers are hosted on OpenBSD Amsterdam, IRCNow, and ARPNetworks.
Cryptocurrency hosts
You may be able to pay in cryptocurrency for IRCNow, but it doesn't seem possible for OpenBSD Amsterdam or ARPNetworks.
Incognet and Kyun are well priced and are probably worth looking into.
Forked Networking has an exceptional SLA, but it's spendy. Probably worth it for some.
Incognet, Kyun, and Crunchbits have servers in the region as well.
Another option altogether...
For many, a VPS is overkill. Perhaps if you just want to host a website, Neocities is a better option.
