03 Win
As many humans, I love the word "Win"...I did athletics when I was young, the sport in which I had the most victories, at the regional level at best. And I love that. But do I need that to live? Do I want to sacrifice everything for that ? No...and that's maybe why I stopped doing competitions. But I didn't know, at that time, that work is also a kind of competition. Each year I have goals in my activity. Sometimes it's reachable, sometimes you have to rely on other persons. And each two years, I have an internal audit, another kind of competitions because the goals are vague and evolve according to the listener's whims. You must also rely on the other persons of the team but I try to avoid this. Each time, it's another way to do something you did last time....I was the "referee" too on other activities and I'm not always cool for that. It depends if the auditee is playing the game or not, if I have the feeling there's something strange.
Win is also a word to describe the result of elections. I'm not in the municpal elections this year. Too much work for a lose, because my town is a right-wing town... or even worse now. The other components of the left-wing don't want to see our party name on their list. So they will lose alone, and much more in the future. That's the most stupid left-wing we could have seen for years, ...They perhaps think they could accomodate with far-right government too ? The last I had in elections (the only one?..), was for parlementiary elections, united as never...Just to make a stupid man win as a MP. A former minister, ha ha...At least we had a win before a big big loose in 2027?
I talked about sacrifices for a win. I didn't sacrifice my personal life for a "win" in my work. I can still look at me in the mirror. And when I read what did some athlete sacrifice to win, it's not possible for me. My grand father was also a competitor in Cycling and middle-distance running before the second world war. He stopped it because of the danger for cycling and because of politics in the sport clubs...and war of course. He wanted also to be a jockey but loved horses more than win, if you see what I mean. Sport is a pleasure for me, a way to push oneself to the limit but if the limit is to destroy your body, it's not a good limit. I knew that I could have problems with knees and anckles. That's life and I had so many great moments with high jump, 100m hurdle, that feeling of flying above obstacles, of wrapping oneself around a bar...A kind of drug that stays now in my mind. I have other pleasures by just walking and to admire the beauties of nature.
To win can be to reach a summit for some people. For some others it is to beat everyone, to be richer than anybody, powerful. To win is not always a good thing. Look at that Donald Trump who said he won, even if he had lost an election. Now he's going to show us his complete victory on the world, just because he can do what he want, make the USA bigger...not seeing that it's not a victory for his country in decline. There's a more important play to win : Against our influence on climate change. It's strange that for that game, those powerful people are not even playing. They don't care about that because tey don't care about their own children, their future. USA againdy China, Europe against Russia or Thailand against Cambodia. Nobody wins in all these conflicts.
I had to complete my own notes for my goals in my work. Yes I won....nothing that another tougher goal for next year. Just a number in a box, numbers in datasheets, as are world sales for my company, financial results that don't do that world better. If at least every one is happy this year in the team without too much stress, it'll be my win.
