Danish postal services

In related news, Denmark shuts down its postal services. No more post officies or post boxes where you can drop your letters.

Yeah, I saw that a while ago. It did make Swedish news. Danish state digital policies are my nightmare just one step short of living in a country where WhatsApp or LINE are more-or-less mandatory. People there need to do stuff through a proprietary webpage that calls itself a mailbox but of course isn’t. It’s a silo. Similar to the “Kivra” scam company that has tried to gain a foothold here in Sweden with some success. Last time I talked to someone in Denmark about this they were like “people cat opt out and get paper mail”, well, that was then, baby, this is now.

Shutting down regular postal services (Sweden did already cut down the delivery dayn from all week to six days a week to five to now 2½ [i.e. alternating two and three]) might even be a good utopian thing (more environmentally friendly—skeumorphic hyperretromedialized "mail art" be damned, please) if the digital communication side of things was more robust and not as silo’d up. But as things are, this is one of the last air vents being nailed shut.
