Gemini (and Gopher) Resources
Last Update: 2025-08-31 11:33 +1200
This is a list of Gemini-specific links that I find useful in navigating the space. I keep it updated as I find the things.
Aggregators
Aggregators are a good way to find CURRENT content and contributors to the smolnet as they are usually sorted by last updated.
Gemini Hashtag Index
Great way to find articles on specific topics. Must use your client's search function though because it pulls in a lot of hashtags that weren't meant to be hashtags.
CAPCOM Geminispace aggregator
Each month, CAPCOM randomly selects 100 distinct URLs from its database of active feeds, and includes their content in its output.
Antenna
This is a feed aggregator with a twist. It doesn't have a list of feeds that it repeatedly checks. Instead it takes feed URLs as user input and puts them in a queue. The queue is checked every five minutes, and an attempt to ingest each feed is made. Once a feed has been ingested it's removed from the queue and thus forgotten.
Flounder
Tends to be a bunch of journals which are quite genuine and laying it all out on the table.
Bongusta!
Although not Gemini (we're all friends here ok), this Gopher aggregate of phlogs is fantastic reading.
Pubnixs / Server Communities
Station
Aggregate of tinylogs with ability to reply.
Midnight Pub
It's late. You are seconds away from the main street in a small alley. It's quieter here, but you can still hear the sound of chatter, footsteps, and cars from busy downtown. The city is buzzing, the streets are like arteries. You see an intriguing place in the alley, with a moon on its door. It reads "The Midnight Pub".
Smol Pub
Small group but often good reading.
BBS
Bulletin Board System for Gemini run on "Bubble". Create an account within your Gemini client, nothing more. Includes Reddit-like Subspaces. Really dig the layout and abilities here.
Search Engines
Totally Legit Gemini Search (TLGS)
Lagrange's default. Does the trick.
Gemplex

General Gemini Thought Pieces
On rants about gemini | Hedy
A very level-headed post in response to a number of complaints about Gemini, and pros and cons of suggested improvements. I'm convinced Gemini is great the way it is. There's a good amount of friction that encourages thoughtful writing and keeps out the bad actors.
The Web Outside the Net (2023) (web)
Dropping protocols like they're vegetables. Learnt a lot of past and current protocols from reading it.
re: why gemini is boring | benj
Part of me is attracted to Gemini because it feels like a quite place where no-one I know in real life will ever find.
Is Gemini boring and is that even bad? | JeanG3nie
Gemini tends to collect people who want to not only express things on a little deeper level, but those who are ok with having their views challenged so that they can learn and grow.
I'm hoping to revisit my notes and update them at a deeper level to publish here, and I'm also hoping that it will spark some improvements or healthy discussions around my methods with other geminauts.
gemini is not easy for tech noobs | cinni
Agree. However I think there is a GOOD amount of LACK of information, to tickle the interest of the beginner-intermediate tech-heads (like myself) into tinkering and figuring it all out. If it was TOO easy, then the sense of achievement probably wouldn't be as satisfying.
