About
I'm Maia (she/her), and in my free time, I like to do FOSS hacker-y things. 2026 has become my year of learning about networking - hence this server! I spun up folk.red on an old Raspberry Pi, and here we are.
I am staunchly anticapitalist, antiracist, and feminist. No one is illegal. I stand for queer and trans liberation. Things are bad, and they have been bad for a very long time. I am taking action, and doing so *collectively*. You should be too.
I strongly recommend that you join a union.
I have a GitHub account (https://github.com/maia-woolf), since unfortunately a lot of FOSS development happens on there. My pragmatism won out over my idealism there, but I do direct you to the following Wikipedia article for some of the awful things Microsoft (of which GitHub is a subsidiary) has done. In particular, I highlight Microsoft's complicity in Israel's ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

I much prefer using version control hosting that is actually supportive of FOSS! E.g. I have a Gitea account on envs.net:

I'm also going to try hosting some things here on folk.red.
I have been asked to say that any views expressed here are my own: they are not necessarily the official views of any organisation that I am a part of or am associated with. Which is their loss, because my opinions are great!
