# DEV BLOG - Week 7 of 2023

A lot of my fighting has been with the window manager. I have dwm up, but it has this thing where the keyboard defaults to qwerty every time I leave the window to another machine. I made an alias to correct it, but I'd rather not have the problem at all. I'm declaring that as not too important right now, and I am pulling down my Wirix source git repo and refreshing the files there. I hope to grind out my first LFS next week. Working off of Slack might actually make the process easier. It's been a year, but I am not sure exactly how bad things are out of date, or if I can push to bleeding edge once I get the first one working right.

I managed to get the base packages I will need to compile the first LFS downloaded, pushed into a new directory, and committed to the git repo. I also managed to get names for the next releases until 2031. I patched st, so now I have new experience in that which is good because I will need to patch the code I have at some point.

There was a conversation about a promotion at my pay job, but I have had this discussion about five times now, and I simply don't believe them anymore. If it happens, that will be great, but I have my doubts. In other news, the USB NIC came today, a day early, and it ripped from install. I didn't have to install a single thing, and I was connected to wifi on Slack in minutes. Not bad for ten bucks.

I'm still depressed over the setback on Wirix. Angry on top of that. I have went ahead and applied for the wirixOS trademark, so I can breathe a little easier on that front, but it's no less frustrating. It hurts though. It's a gut punch, and I still feel like I got screwed over.
