BusinessTech - Business Talk – Lutfiyyah Ahmed on how resilience will shape the future of SA businesses
2025-12-14T17:32:24+00:00
In this episode of Business Talk, Michael Avery is joined by Lutfiyyah Ahmed, Head of Advisory at Resilient Innovations, to unpack what true organizational resilience means in 2025. Lutfiyyah explains why resilience is no longer just business continuity or traditional risk management, but a holistic, enterprise-wide capability that spans people, processes, systems, culture, and governance. She highlights how South African organisations often fall into siloed approaches, duplicating efforts and missing critical risks in an environment defined by cyber threats, regulatory pressure, infrastructure instability, and social disruptions.
Lutfiyyah also explores why resilience stress tests and simulations are essential for building muscle memory and exposing blind spots long before a crisis hits. She outlines practical steps leaders can take to strengthen resilience—from unifying fragmented risk practices into a single framework to embedding specialised roles within business units to bridge the gap between strategy and operations. Looking ahead, she emphasises the need for adaptability, continuous testing, and stronger data preparedness as organisations face an unpredictable threat landscape where breaches are increasingly a matter of “when,” not “if.”

Daily Maverick - Joburg: How is it possible for a city to pay so much… and deliver so little?
2025-12-14T14:46:55+00:00
Right now, as residents deal with load reductions, water outages, and waste collection that’s hit-or-miss at best… Joburg’s top executives are earning some of the highest municipal salaries in the country. In fact, some are taking home packages that rival – and sometimes exceed – what the President earns. We explain.

Danie van der Merwe - Glances vs Dozzle vs Beszel for Docker Container Monitoring
2025-12-12T15:59:35+00:00
This video explores some of the practical pros and cons between open source self-hosted Glances, Dozzle and Beszel for the monitoring of running Docker containers in terms of their performance stats, error logs, automated alerting, and troubleshooting of issues.
It concludes with an overview of the Docker compose configuration files to run Beszel. Note that the linked Docker configuration file below will be more up to date than the once I showed in the video.
I did not unpack the Hub vs Agent relationship for Beszel in the video (as I delved into that only the following day), but note that an agent is required for monitoring of services, but an agent will only connect to one Beszel Hub using a unique token and key combination (created in the Hub when adding a System, and then transferred into the Agent's config file). So if an Agent is running on a remote VPS you can link it to a local Beszel Hub, but if you also want to link it to a Beszel Hub running on that remote VPS, then you must create a second Agent container and link that to the VPS's Beszel Hub.
Subsequent to this video, Beszel also helped identify a warning I had in two PostgreSQL databases for collation mismatches: The collation version mismatch warning in my PostgreSQL databases occurred because the database was created with an older version of the system's collation library (glibc version 2.36), but my current system now provides a newer version (2.41). It was just a matter of running a command inside each database to fix that.

Politically Aweh - Gen Z Protests In South Africa: Could We Be Next? | Politically Aweh Podcast
2025-12-11T16:18:38+00:00
We sat down with Irfaan Mangera, Y20 spokesperson and seasoned youth wrangler, to unpack why the G20 felt like a group project where the grownups didn’t read the brief.
We get into youth rage, protest culture, anime flags taking over parliaments, and why South African leaders still act shocked when young people hit the streets.
It seems African leaders keep missing the point for the continent's young people.

The Hated One - We need to talk... about the Proton ecosystem
2025-12-11T13:21:46+00:00
Proton is good. But also too big. Support my independent work:
Ecosystem is a trap. It lures you in with the promise of convenience, only to lock you inside a walled garden. Like Google and Apple. They start with a good product, but then force you to use the whole suite to get the full experience. This is dangerous.
Ecosystems are concentrating all of your data and your digital life in the hands of a single entity. An entity that grows so large and powerful that it will start making compromises against your rights only to find more ways to profit or protect their business. The larger the ecosystem, the bigger data harvester it becomes. It becomes a bigger target for hackers and the more products it offers the more data it has to give to the surveillance state.
We know that the big tech does this, because their only moral value is the shareholder value. [4]
But when a private company starts quacking like a duck in the steps of the big tech, it should worry us the same way. That company is Proton. The maker of the most renowned privacy products that have always been meant as ethical alternatives to the big tech.
Today, Proton resembles more and more the ecosystems of Google and Apple than it does its noble origins of fighting the big tech. This is a problem. It’s a problem for your privacy and it’s a problem for the whole community. But you probably never of heard of this perspective, because none of this is talked about enough. There is a reason for this.
You see, most content on Proton you’ll find, is coming from sources that are sponsored or affiliated with Proton. And I know how lucrative Proton’s deals are, because Proton even tried to pay me. Of course, I refused their offer, because taking their money would incentivize me not to recommend against Proton products. I am uniquely positioned to give you a nuanced critique of Proton and how to solve this problem.

These things are based on historical documentation and scientific articles.
You just need to search for “Meucci and telephone” on ResearchGate.
Here are some significant scientific papers on the topic:
[
]
[
]
And here is the resolution of the United States Congress:
[
]
Saying“Meucci invented the telephone, Bell patented it.” is also partially true, but it’s not enough.
The invention of the telephone was a collective process, born from decades of attempts to transmit sound electrically.
The main figures involved are:
• Charles Bourseul (France)
• Johann Philipp Reis (Germany)
• Elisha Gray (USA)
• Alexander Graham Bell (Scotland / USA)
• Innocenzo Manzetti (Italy)
• And several other lesser-known researchers, now almost forgotten
Bell became the “official father” of the telephone, but historically it is much more accurate to say that Bell was simply the final link in a chain that already existed.
Of course, this video attributes the invention to Meucci, because if we truly have to give credit to someone, Meucci is the most suitable figure considering everything that everything as described in the video.
BusinessTech - Business Talk – Matthew Pouncett on how diversification will shape investor strategy in 2026
2025-12-11T04:04:41+00:00
In this episode of Business Talk, Michael Avery speaks with Matthew Pouncett, Co-Portfolio Manager at Laurium Capital, to unpack the powerful rally that has shaped equity markets this year and what it means for investors heading into 2026. Matthew breaks down the forces behind the surge in local and global markets—including risk-on sentiment, easing financial conditions, a surprising gold price rally, and the global AI-driven boom—and explains how these dynamics have created both opportunity and new concentration risks within the JSE.
Matthew also explores why hedge funds deserve a place in investor portfolios during strong market cycles, offering diversification, risk management, and uncorrelated sources of return. He outlines Laurium’s suite of hedge fund strategies, each designed for different risk profiles and investment horizons, and explains how regulation has made hedge funds more accessible for everyday investors. Looking ahead, he highlights key trends to watch in 2026—especially growing market dislocations—and how they may create meaningful opportunities for those positioned with the right tools and strategies.

Politically Aweh - We Went to the G20 to Ask World Leaders ONE Question… Here’s What Happened | Politically Aweh
2025-12-04T18:45:41+00:00
We chased presidents, ministers and spokespeople across Joburg looking for real answers to questions from young people all over the continent.
Instead, we found closed doors, long speeches, open bars, and a G20 that seems more scared of visiting aunts from overseas than the generation rising up. They rolled out red carpets, read long statements, and kept the youth at arm’s length while pretending everything was under control.
Meanwhile, the real action is happening outside their rooms, on streets from Nairobi to Antananarivo, where young people are demanding accountability louder than ever.
Featuring youth activists from Kenya, Madagascar and beyond, plus a special mission to warn the G20 that the youth are coming. Gen-Z is BIG MAD!

Back then the selection of dev boards was limited and the available code and software was not the easiest. But now we get Meshtastic which apparently makes LoRa easy. Is that true? Andreas Spiess - How to charge an EV using Solar, OCPP, and EVCC
2025-11-16T08:02:04+00:00
My problem started when I bought this car. As an electronics engineer, I didn’t want to leave this planet without owning an electric vehicle. With its 650 horsepower, it’s a thrill to drive — and with 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, or 60 mph, it reminds me of my sporty motorcycle. The car is a Smart #5, BTW. I used OCPP 1.6J and EVCC to solve the problem

Danie van der Merwe - In-depth Comparison between Open Source AFFiNE and Joplin Notes for Note-Taking
2025-11-14T13:49:17+00:00
Both AFFiNE and Joplin Notes are intended for creating and editing notes, with a view to building up your searchable personal knowledge base.
My video does an in-depth dive comparison between AFFiNE and Joplin Notes with a primary focus on the note-taking capabilities and their Markdown format compatibility. AFFiNE has the added advantage of providing some great graphical tools with its edgeless canvas mode, whilst Joplin Notes has tremendous extendability through its numerous community plugins.
They do things slightly differently and neither, though, does everything perfectly, so my video will hopefully highlight some of their differences which may appeal to you.
NOTE: If AFFiNE gets bulk export to MD I will mention it here in the description.

The Hated One - Proton Offered Me Money... Then It Got Weird
2025-11-11T20:03:09+00:00
If you value my integrity, support me:
Everything about this and all the details are available in this post:
If you haven’t noticed, I have never taken a single sponsorship deal on my channel. And it's not for lack of offers. Since I started this channel in 2016, I've been messsaged by all kinds of companies, offering me money to shill for them for a minute or put their link in the description box. Most of these companies were offering dubious VPNs, cryptos or weird products. But a few of these were genuine privacy projects that I know, use and respect. Like Safing which makes the Portmaster firewall, or Quant privacy search engine.
Most recently, I have been approached by Proton. The company behind ProtonMail that is now the biggest privacy competitor to Google's ecosystem. I was delighted at first, that Proton found my work appealing to them as they told me. I wanted to say no to their offer outright but I didn't just want to shut them down. I was curious. I wanted to know more. But then, things got really weird. And it all ended more strangely than anyhting I could've expected. And I think this is something you should know about. So I am going to show you exactly what happened. And I am going to be leaking the messages between me and a Proton representative.
Since I am a channel that makes all kinds of content on privacy and surveillance, this is something you should absolutely know about. And what you are about to see will give you a peak behind close door deals between your favorite YouTube creators and their sponsors.
Proton is a company whose products I've been using since its inception. I actually signed up for ProtonMail all the way back when it started and you had to get to a waiting list before you could open up an account. The reason for this was that Proton was one of the first email providers with user-friendly end-to-end encryption. It came out after Edward Snowden leaked the files on NSA mass surveillance that told us that all these big tech companies are just giving all of our data to intelligence agencies. And end-to-end encryption was our only defense against mass surveillance.
ProtonMail came at a time when we had few user-friendly end-to-end encrypted options. Signal was barely in its infancy and no privacy option had any mainstream adoption. Proton was on its path to change that.
It has since grown into a powerful empire of services. It's not just an email, it's also a VPN, calendar, drive, Docs, password manager, a crypto wallet, an AI assitant, it acquired SimpleLogin, the app that generates email aliases, and Standard Notes, an encrypted note-taking app.
In my privacy recommendations, I always nudge people towards compartmentalization - which is a complex word for a simple idea: don't put too many eggs into one basket. Proton's ecosystem of apps became anti-thetical to that. I would still recommend ProtonMail, but I would suggest to use a different VPN so that you don't trust Proton with too much of your sesnsitive data. Or if you use ProtonVPN, you should use Tuta for your email.
I am saying all of this to you to let you know about all the decisions and sacrifices I am making for the ethics and morals behind this channel. I could've been taking money from all kinds of sponsors and have affiliate links all over. And I would be able to hire other people to make better quality content more frequently... and I would be incentivized to go against the best recommendations, because I would make more money shilling for my sponsors and only for my sponsors.
I am trying to show that this can be done differently... If it can be done differently. Becuase none of this works if you don't support the channel. I am reducing myself into an e-whore begging for money from my audience because I don't want to whore myself out to sponsors that would conflict with my videos.
I mean, I could take sponsors that do not introduce conflicts of interests. I've also been approached by Ground News, but haven't accepteed anything from them. I was thinking of partnering up with Peak Design because I love their products and ethics and they didn't snitch on Luigi.
But fundamentally, I will always be dependent on you. And if my audience doesn't step up to support my work, then I'll have to quit. It's a simple equation.

Coding with Dee - The Most Important Programming Language No One Learns Anymore
2025-10-31T12:34:00+00:00
Throughout my career, I have been learning modern languages and tooling, and assumed the “old stuff” was just history. Then I kept bumping into Assembly: in operating systems, firmware, and the kinds of systems you really don’t want failing. In this video, I share what I’ve learned. It’s a pretty cool story about where our software came from, what still runs beneath everything we build.

Presented by: Mohube Tumisho Makgeru
This talk is about diving into everyday examples of being a software engineer. I believe people often think that being a software engineer is an abstract and far concept, one that takes years to master while in actuality everyday of their lives they are engineering solutions without even thinking about it. I would like to show people through different fundamental computer science concepts how they are constantly engineering solution to difficult problems.

DevConf - Unlocking Code Confidence: Building Effective Quality Gates in CI Pipelines by Craig Risi
2025-09-12T04:00:56+00:00
How do you know when your code is ready for production? At what point in time can you trust your automated tests enough to deploy into production?
Companies use CI pipelines to help drive faster execution of tests and ensure that code is of sufficient quality before deployment. Or at least that is what they are supposed to do. Too often, companies end up using CI pipelines to try and drive better software delivery but end up delivering poor-quality software into environments and lose trust in the pipeline process.
In this talk, we will have a look at the ideal structure of a CI pipeline and how to build the different quality gates into the pipeline to ensure that things like code coverage, security, automated test results, and performance standards are all achieved before code is deployed to the different environments. We will look at the structure of a CI pipeline, what the different stages mean, and how to enforce different metrics and targets automatically in the pipeline.

It's a lot easier to launch a product than expected, and while that doesn't necessarily mean it will be successful - it does mean that side-hustling to raise extra funds is close at hand to anyone who dares try.
If you're capable of building a good product, all you need is a simple marketing strategy to spread the word. In this talk, I'll show you just how you can go about the daring task of switching from "developer" to "entrepreneur" - without risking your day job!

DevConf - Who's Afraid of Continuous Delivery? by Donald Graham
2025-09-09T10:45:00+00:00
We all want to release software multiple times a day, don’t we? Or do we? This sounds scary. Are we afraid?
What is continuous delivery, and why do we want to do it? What’s in it for us? This may just be hype. Maybe we can stop worrying about it.
Continuous delivery is hard. I’m lucky enough to have failed in many ways, so I feel qualified to talk about this. When I think about why I've failed, it's fear that's stopped me. Somebody's fear, not always mine. Maybe yours.
So who's afraid of continuous delivery? We'll take a look at who's afraid, and what they fear. If we can address the fears, we can build trust and go faster.
This is assuming you still want to do continuous delivery. Do you?

Talk 1: Web & Frameworks
Let's talk about Web Frameworks!
Speaker: Musa Maphutha
I am a former model and an aspiring software engineer . I love standing in front of the crowd. I am keen in evolving and sparking my interpersonal skills.
Talk 2: Rust’s Borrow Checker - Your First Line of Defense Against Memory Bugs
Memory bugs can silently wreak havoc in software, leading to crashes, vulnerabilities, and sleepless nights. In this talk, we’ll explore how Rust’s borrow checker and type system catch these problems at compile time—before your code ever runs. I’ll break down the rules that keep your programs safe, show why other languages fall short, and highlight the peace of mind Rust brings to developers. If you’ve ever wished your compiler cared as much about safety as you do, this session is for you.
Speaker: Mihlali Dlulane
I’m Mihlali Dlulane, a final year student at wethinkcode. I’m a developer with a love for lower level programming and understanding for how things work under the hood and trying to implement them myself.
Talk 3: TypeScript in 2025 - Building Bulletproof Node.js Projects from Day Zero
In 2025, starting a Node.js + TypeScript project isn’t just about getting tsc to compile. It’s about setting up a future-proof foundation—embracing native ESM, strict typing, modern linting, and a clean architecture that can grow with your team.
In this talk, we’ll walk through a step-by-step setup inspired by Gabriel Drouin’s 2025 guide, then layer on the latest best practices: advanced tsconfig settings, scalable project structures, zero-build development workflows, and rock-solid ESLint/Prettier configurations. Whether you’re shipping APIs or enterprise backends, you’ll leave with a blueprint to start right and stay sane.
Speaker: Siyabonga Nkuna
Siyabonga is a Software Engineer at BBD who treats JavaScript and TypeScript like a well-crafted art form — where architecture meets creativity, and clean code is the brushstroke of maintainable systems. He’s passionate about building scalable, future-proof applications, and is constantly exploring modern patterns, strict typing, and emerging tooling in the Node.js ecosystem. Recently, he’s been diving deep into how we can set up projects in 2025 to be both lightning-fast for development and rock-solid for production. When he’s not refining type definitions or debating ESM vs CommonJS, Siyabonga is lost in anime, fantasy worlds, GTA V, or the peaceful stillness of nature (and sometimes, the stillness of a good lazy Sunday indoors).

Talk 1: The Unholy Power of innerHTML
What happens when you hand JavaScript’s most chaotic method a loaded string and no adult supervision? In this talk, we’ll explore the dark side of innerHTML, from accidental layout destruction to full-blown XSS vulnerabilities, all with a healthy dose of live breakage and laughs.
You’ll see why innerText, textContent, and safer DOM manipulation methods are your friends. Whether you’re a junior dev or a seasoned engineer, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of how not to burn your UI to the ground. Fun, fast, and just dangerous enough to make you think twice next time you reach for innerHTML.

My site on Independence, Livin' Free and Badassity:
Lyrics, written by Alan and Katie Donegan:
[Verse 1]
Living life with badassity, reaching early retirement
Inspired by Mr. Money Mustache, found our enlightenment
The shockingly simple math, it made everything clear
Cutting costs, saving cash, now our freedom is near
[Chorus]
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Oh, Mustachianism
Mustachianism
[Verse 2]
From Hassle-hoff to saving, every penny counts
Living below our means, watching our wealth mount
Keep our savings rate high, living life with thrift
Financial independence, it's too good to resist
[Chorus]
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Oh, Mustachianism
Mustachianism
[Bridge]
We hustle hard, but we play smart
Investing wisely, it's a work of art
Early retirement, it's within our grasp
Living life on our terms, no need to ask
[Chorus]
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Oh, Mustachianism

abstract
Have you ever wondered how APTs such as the North Korean Lazarus group [0] develop their malware? How exactly do they work, and what does it take to build their capabilities? In this talk, we’ll dive into how we recreated some of the Lazarus payloads, emulating their tactics and techniques in a unique purple team engagement.
## detail
This talk will walk through the process of researching and developing custom payloads and tools emulating the Lazarus group, including how AI/LLMs assisted (everything is written in C/C++ after all). We'll have code snippets, demos, and plenty of technical information, including a custom C2 written for the job.
Finally, we will close off with some of the struggles we encountered working as a team, from managing code repositories to doing silly things like rewriting our communications protocol.
This talk will appeal to offensive security enthusiasts and those interested in understanding the potential role AI could play in the development of malware and other security tools. In addition, if you're interested in purple teaming, this one is for you!
## notes for reviewers
This talk will be delivered by two people:

0XC0FFEE JHB - Incident Response Planning as a DnD campaign - Ivan Burke | 0xCON 2024
2025-03-24T11:34:35+00:00
In an ideal world an incident response plan should capture all the required actions to mitigate, contain and eradicate any threats resulting from a cyber incident. Over the past few years it became clear that these plans need to be robust enough to stand up to real world incidents. Often times these plans contain idealised scenarios with perfectly working systems and resource availability.
Unfortunately during a real world incident not everything runs according to these plans. Thus it is good practice to run through various iterations of these scenarios and add an element of uncertainty. Thus in this talk I will discuss how I modelled an incident response scenario to a DnD campaign.
By running the scenario as a table top exercise one can implement execute multiple response plans in short succession without relying on tech dependencies or impacting business operations
About Ivan:
I have been a Cyber Security researcher for over 15 years. As part of my research I have helped develop numerous cyber security incident response plan, recovery plans and doctrine. Our company has also assisted with numerous incident responses on behalf of clients over the last 4 years.

In 2017, I stepped down from my job as CTO of a 150-person software company to see if I could make money selling my own software on the Internet. Seven years later, I am now a full-time “solopreneur”—running a portfolio of software products (written mostly in Python) as a full-time job. I now set my own hours, take vacation whenever I want, and, amazingly, earn more than I ever did as CTO.
In this talk, I’ll share how I did it and what I learned in the process. I’ll share the skills Python programmers should pick up in order to start selling software on the web, including both technical and non-technical ones. I’ll discuss how to get started, evaluating your ideas, building your product, and getting your first users and customers. The talk will draw from years of work building and selling software myself, as well as the experience I’ve gained from helping hundreds of others launch their own businesses.
If you’ve ever wanted to turn your coding skills into revenue-generating side-projects, I hope this talk both inspires and helps you to get started.

Developer User Group - Why writing tests is valuable and the benefits of good CI/CD practices
2024-06-20T22:00:25+00:00
Developer User Group Meetup - 17 April 2024
Title: Why writing tests is valuable and the benefits of good CI/CD practices.
Most startups are concerned with getting code to production as fast as possible. They cut corners on testing because their boss wants the work done yesterday. This leads to difficult to extend code in desperate need of refactor and longer times to dev or getting your code to production.
Facilitator: Owen Carter
I started my career wanting to be a developer, but hitting brick walls applying for jobs so I ended up in testing. In my first job It was so monotonous and predictable I automated it in CRON; it got me fired eventually but it gave me the time to learn to be a developer.
Personal life: I broke spine aged 20 just before my career started. I live in constant pain and the urge to quit is strong, but I wasn't about to let a physical disease stop me from doing what I love.

Justine Haupt - Hall sensor fingerstop position detection in debug mode (Rotary Un-Smartphone)
2022-12-16T03:45:39+00:00
A hall sensor was added under the rotary dial's face plate to detect when the fingerstop is at it's limit. What's shown is debug firmware running where the white "filament" LED flashes every time the hall sensor detects the finger stop.
Fingerstop limit detection was needed to resolve a dial reliability problem, owing to the way I tried to value engineer the rotary dial's pulse counting switch.
With the Face Plate now being an electrically active board, this crazy phone now has FOUR printed circuit boards: The motherboard, daughterboard, dial faceplate, and the antenna. Yikes.

FOSDEM - Deterministic debugging with Delve And the state of Delve
2020-11-19T13:05:14+00:00
by Derek Parker
At: FOSDEM 2020
In this talk I will begin by delivering the "State of Delve" update. In similar fashion to the popular "State of Go" talk I will begin by discussing all of the exciting new features and changes that have happened over the past year, since last FOSDEM. Following that I will go into a live demo showcasing how Delve can leverage Mozilla RR in order to perform deterministic debugging. This talk will begin by introducing users to the concept of deterministic debugging and the power that comes with it. Following that I will launch into a demo showcasing how to leverage this concept to debug an otherwise unpredictable highly concurrent program. Users will walk away with immediate practical knowledge they can begin applying in their day to day debugging.
It's been a year since last FOSDEM and a lot has changed with Delve! I will discuss all the new features and changes that have been implemented in the last year.
Following the "State of Delve" introduction, I will dig into how Delve can be utilized to perform deterministic debugging. This style of debugging enables users to record the execution of their process and "play it back" in a deterministic fashion in order to more quickly and efficiently perform root cause analysis on a bug that may otherwise be difficult to reproduce or track down. This section of the talk will begin by introducing the concept of deterministic debugging and why it is so useful and powerful. Once everyone is familiar with the concept I will launch into a live demo showcasing how to leverage this debugging approach to track down and fix a bug which is hard to reproduce and happens only intermittently.
Attendees will walk away with practical knowledge that they can begin applying to their debugging problems immediately.

FOSDEM - Support for mini-debuginfo in LLDB How to read the .gnu_debugdata section.
2020-11-19T13:03:36+00:00
by Konrad Kleine
At: FOSDEM 2020
The "official" mini-debuginfo man-page describes the topic best:
❮blockquote❯Some systems ship pre-built executables and libraries that have a
special ❮code❯.gnu_debugdata❮/code❯ section. This feature is called MiniDebugInfo.
This section holds an LZMA-compressed object and is used to supply extra
symbols for backtraces.
The intent of this section is to provide extra minimal debugging information
for use in simple backtraces. It is not intended to be a replacement for
full separate debugging information (see Separate Debug Files).
❮/blockquote❯
In this talk I'll explain what it took to interpret support for mini-debuginfo
in LLDB, how we've tested it, and what to think about when implementing this
support (e.g. merging ❮code❯.symtab❮/code❯ and ❮code❯.gnu_debugdata❮/code❯ sections).

Mr. Money Mustache - Early Retirement in One Lesson (or How I Retired at 30)
2020-09-06T21:11:32+00:00
This is a talk I did for the 2016 World Domination Summit in Portland Oregon. The idea was to take a new audience from zero to hero on the whole concept of the "How and Why" of getting wealthy enough so that you never have to work again - while you are still young.
Note: this video was originally republished elsewhere on Youtube by other channels without my permission, but this is the only rightful place it should be posted since it's my own work.
I hope these ideas prove to be as useful to you as they have to me!

My 1999 Honda Odyssey Van, "Vanna" is still in brand-new condition - how could this be??
On top of that, she has saved me about $100,000 over the time I have owned her, compared to the average person's car ownership and use patterns.
In this video, I break down the FIVE steps to get these kind of results yourself.

LinuxConf [ZA] - Open Source in Local Government - Challenges and Opportunities

Delyno Du Toit
LinuxConf [ZA] 2019
This talk will provide learnings from local government on using open source software to enable and scale research and analytics. Governments have a strong proprietary software focus, with good reason. There is however a grey area where open source and proprietary software clash and it is here where open source excels.
This talk is of interest to anyone who is working in a large organisation, with a proprietary software focus, and wanting to introduce and roll-out open source software.
