Rollercoaster of an idea

A thing from Dave Karpf again.

Absolute rollercoaster. I've not come across the idea of the abundance movement before. Sounds like a grand idea. Oh wait. "Broad Coalition" to the point of pointlessness. Yeah ... nah.

There's a nice definition in there from someone by the name of Steve Teles who's taken a bit of a deep dive into various aspects of these abundance movements - of which I was unaware of as a named concept about half an hour ago.

"The aspiration is to escape from a political economy defined by artificial scarcity, to create a world in which we solve problems primarily by unlocking supply."

Which one one hand sounds very much like post-scarcity thinking. On the other, when taken in the context of the much longer article

should have one immediately asking: unlocking supply of what? And for who?

It end's up sounding like the abundance thing is very much a tool, or a method. Which, without a goal to be applied to could result in awful outcomes as much as it could good ones.
