Town Explore
I didn't realize the town explore tool was available until I came across someone talking about it on bbj. I tried to see if it would show up my gemlog, but I couldn't find it. After pulling up my gemlog on vim to verify the date and see what I wrote, I found it listed as the first item on town explorer --even though I didn't edit the file. Interesting, I guess.
Chromebook
I'm slowly coming to terms with the limitations on my Chromebook. I installed AntiX Core Linux on it. The device was free, and I wanted to see if I could install Linux. I settled for AntiX Core because I was getting annoyed with the performance issues of GUI-based distros --even the smallest ones. The Chromebook, as it is, is perfect for distraction-free writing. Every once in while, though, when I come across an http link on Amfora or a link to an image, I get the urge to try another GUI-based distro. I resist the temptation, though. This Chromebook was primarily meant to be used for writing. I also like the way it forces me to learn more about the tools available in the command line environment.
Vegan-ish
I tried going vegan several years ago, because I heard it's possible to mitigate some chronic diseases with it. I can't attest to the validity of the claim, it may be true (to some extent), but I doubt it. It hasn't helped me much, but then again, I'm not careful with what I eat either. I like impossible burgers, daiya cheese, chips, and oil. That vegan journey started because of what I thought it could do for my health. I, then, became sympathetic to animal rights. Over time, I've grown a little more callous to those concerns. I try not to think about it. If something jeopardizes the health and safety of my family or myself, I will get rid of whatever mice or pests are present in my home. I've accepted the fact that animals are a source of food, and not everyone can go on a vegan diet.
I, however, can't bring myself to eat meat. The thought of it is as abhorant to me as eating a dog. It bothers me when I see people eat chicken, or delight over a steak. I try to put it out of my mind. When my wife treats our dogs with assorted dog chews, like pig ears, I try not to think about where they came from. This is the world I live in.
I don't consume honey, milk, or eggs either. I don't relate to bees, or any insects, but if they're not bothering me, I don't go out of my way to mess with them.
I won't claim that I'm vegan, but I do follow the diet. Sometimes I wish more people would do so too.
