Somebody in my Mastodon feed mentioned gopher. Gopherhole, rabbit hole, same difference. I'm now here carving out a small space for myself, and poking around to see who else is out here. It feels good. Maybe this segues to the next section.

I recall after spending almost my whole non-class freshman year in college, putting on my big boy pants and switching from a VAX/VMS acccount to a Unix account. The default shell was csh, becuase Bourne was not yet born again, and I used Pine for email because all the Mutt users used vim and it looked gnarly. This was also pre-Netscape; one of my first friends from this era still today will make jokes about old tech by invoking archie and veronica. This is all to say, Geminispaces and gopherspaces, and this small internet, feels good to poke around in. Maybe because I'm wistful for that era.

In other things, I ride a skateboard, I get really into cooking just normal-ass food from around the world, and I used to be a journalist, but now I do cyberz.
