3. Contact via email after unexpected ban on AnonOps IRC

Yesterday while using IRC I was trying to connect to the irc.anonops.com server. I'm using irssi as my IRC client. I got the following output in irssi (ip address redacted):

17:36 -!- Channel #venezuela created Sun Jun 9 02:10:53 2024
17:36 -!- Irssi: Join to #venezuela was synced in 8 secs
17:37 -!- You're banned! --------> READ THIS ENTIRELY OR BE RIDICULED! <-------- FAQ: TOR exit nodes are banned, as are open proxies, if none of these apply email us. Email
info@anonops.com with the ERROR line below for help.
17:37 -!- ERROR Closing link: (gaussianblu@NNN.NN1.NN6.NNN) [Z-lined: Banned provider]
17:37 -!- Irssi: Connection lost to irc.anonops.com
17:37 -!- xxx [~xxx@user/xxx] has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]

I've got consumer internet access. The ip address in the message matches the ip address of a device connected to the internet.

In this case the device connected to the internet is my machine. I don't run a Tor exit node on my machine. Neither do I run an open proxy.

So when this happened I read that message displayed by irssi and wrote an email to info@anonops.com .

This was yesterday. Now I'm thinking I shouldn't have sent any email. I should have let time go and checked if I have trouble connecting another day.

Or I should just have waited with the email. The thing is, it was made so easy to me: The server disconnects me.

There's an explanation message for disconnecting me which irssi displays. The email address where i can ask for help is included right in the explanation message.

I haven't thought I shouldn't write any email when this was happening. I wrote the email. It looked so straightforward.

What do you think about this? Do you agree with me writing the email? Do you think I shouldn't have written any email?
