piano, phones, pain, parties, puniversity, and pjobs
a lot has been going on lately, and i'm hoping it isn't too much to handle, but so far i'm okay.
piano
i am starting to enjoy playing the piano a bit more. i can analyze music scores for concepts of music theory, i can /sort of/ fiddle around to create pleasant sounds with it on the fly (though sticking to a particular style is still hard)!
i'm super slow about music. i'm slow at everything, but i'm enjoying it!
phones
i use a samsung galaxy s5. it doesn't even have a phone plan attached to it. i'm super cheap, i know. i really just use it to run xmpp in the background so i can collect messages on it, since it's an arm computer, so it uses less electricity to run all night.
i also use it to keep up with irc. i can't type on it to save my life, so i usually just read messages on it, then wake up my computer to reply to them.
a friend of mine offered an "old" s10 that she's not using at all anymore. it's 5 years newer than my current phone, and i'm kind of excited to try it.
pain
last night, in the middle of the night, i fell down the stairs and hit my elbow pretty good. i woke some people up and i kind of feel bad about that.
i thought it was just a bruise, but i ended up needing a bandage.
the first aid box was gone. the iodine was gone. it wsan't a huge deal, but it was frustrating. i did find the box eventually, and my arm wasn't *too* bad, so i just cleaned it with water.
it was midnight when i got back to bed, but an hour later i had a recurring nightmare. i woke up and ran out of my room. this happens every few months.
parties
my city has lots of bars and clubs. i hate loud music, i don't do well with crowds. it's really not my scene, but i needed some social experience so i went with some people.
we talked a little bit, but i couldn't hear them because my ears aren't that great with speakers blasting right next to us. we did some drinking and dancing, which was kind of fun. although drinks are too expensive.
university
the university rejected my application, as i was homeschooled, and my homeschool diploma doesn't count by today's standards.
they say i need to take a departmental, but alberta doesn't have a departmental for music, so i'm trying to communicate with them about that. it's been frustrating.
jobs
i'm somewhat sad that i can't land a job in system administration or computer programming, even at a junior level. that's okay though.
anyway, that's it for what's new with me! just thought i'd write about it before getting up for the morning. also: good morning, smolnet!
