Is there any translation service in the geminispace?

I copy the entire Gemtext source and ask ChatGPT to translate it. Unlike HTML, Gemtext is well-suited for doing that. · 2 hours ago

Also: this seems resource-intensive, but wouldn't it be interesting to have some kind of proxy that translated http/gemini for you, from whatever was the source language to whatever language you specified. It'd be intrusive, in that the translator program would get the content of whatever you read. BabelfishVPN! · 2 hours ago

Translation seems like a pretty good use of geminispace in that it's text-based. I'm not sure how well the character-limit on inputs would interact with many usecases (excepting titan, which I should go figure out). You'd have to be able to translate only short textblocks, right? Rather than upload files for translation. · 2 hours ago

@nihirash that's my point. Not everybody uses the same browser and it would be great if some translation service existed here. · 4 hours ago

But if someone using gemini on computer that have no Ladrange :-) For example, I'm using AmiGemini on Amiga. · 10 hours ago

Shift + Alt + X and you're done. Lagrange includes a pretty good translator. As an “extra,” if you have a txt file, you can drag it into a Lagrange window and translate it. · 11 hours ago

Lagrange has built-in but doesn't cover all usecases. · 12 hours ago
