For my fellow Linux gamers on here, it looks like DOOM, the Dark Ages has an issue with AMD video cards on Linux right now. But there's supposedly a fix already coming in the next MESA driver release. Valve is also aware of the problem and working on getting it running on Steam Deck. Here's hoping. :)

@bavarianbarbarian Nothing wrong with any of that. I'm not all that young anymore myself, but gaming is one of those things that I'll probably always do, at least as long as my eyes and hands work well enough to do it. Funny you mention the AtariST, my first computer was an Atari 800XL, I honestly kinda' miss those days. I've been wanting to get a computer from that era just to mess with again. C128, Amita, AtariST, Apple IIe... They just remind me of simpler times. · 6 months ago

@xoagray back in my days, linux had a 0.xx kernel number and my console/computers was an amiga500, atari st, c64 or sega genesis/megadrive ;) maybe i am getting old... sometimes i miss my job working with big irons like HP superdomes or IBM mainframes... but now i am an old man who likes to sit in the garden, watching my orcheeds growing and cuddling the cat while enjoying a good glass of scotch ;) · 7 months ago

@bavarianbarbarian Oh same here. Ironically, gaming was one of the things that pushed me away from Windows for good. I used to stream games on Twitch, And with the setup I had that let me use consoles and my PC to stream from, Windows 10 Iat the time) had fits whenever I would switch one of my monitors from Windows to anything else. My windows on Windows would go all over when I switched back, it was impossible to work with on stream.

So I switched over to LInux, it handled switching monitors with ease, and let me do as I wanted with games on console. And by that time, almost all of my games worked fine via Proton. It was a win, win ditching Windows. · 7 months ago

when i want to play i use a system for playing, not for working. uniix based systems are for working, windows for gaming. · 7 months ago
