agree, mechanical is about auditory or tactile feel. there's so many key switches that all have their own feel and sound that you can really nerd out on it.
my non-techie wife just bought a "creamy keyboard" for work, all on her own nor hearing about mechanical keyboards from me. · 1 month ago
what if i have a laptop??? ;-; · 1 month ago
It's a fun hobby and/or money sink for a lot of people, hehe. I'm typing on my fancy custom mechanical keyboard right now! But I didn't pay as much as some do...
The point of the mechanical contacts is more about the *feel* of typing on them, and for many people also the sound. They also are theoretically more durable, although I can't say that I've ever "worn out" a non-mechanical one before. · 1 month ago
it means that the keys make a mechanical contact to create the signal. I'd quess the option would be visual, not sure. · 1 month ago
what... okay, help me out. I understand that customizeable keyboards could be really useful, because I like customization already. What's the use of a *mechanical* keyboard though? · 1 month ago
