We have already seen that the human being could not live 24 hours without internet but, I launch again an open question: Could the human being live 24 hours without electricity and without using any electrical device?

@fab read the wiki about that incident, i am not allowed to talk about that ;) german laws are really hard regarding that, i could not even enter the site without 2 guards for the first 6 weeks. look for siemens konvoi2 reactors. · 4 months ago

@bavarianbarbarian I just *thought* that there was a Tsunami which knocked the power down and the backup generators were placed at the sea side which the Tsunami also destroyed. But you surely know better than me if you worked at a powerplant. · 4 months ago

@fab i have been a sysadmin in a nuclear power plant, electricity was not the problem in fukushima. if you are interested, i could explain what the real problem was. @yamato no real problem, i can heat with wood for i have old school ovens and MREs for about 6 months. i think medics would be the main issue. in the city i think it will be the horror. serveral years ago in berlin they were without power and they had to call the army for support. here in the outback we would just laugh &) · 4 months ago

I spent 24 hours in police custody over a decade ago. But I was drunk as f*** and slept the whole time. Then they set me free at 04:00 in the morning because they're only allowed to take you 24 hours in custody. So 24 hours is nothing. Another question is what would happen, if electricity breaks down for a week or so for a whole country. I think so many dangerous things are kept safe just with electricity, that this would really be catastrophic (eg. the cooling backup generators for Fukushima). For normal people not so much I guess, they would find ways to compensate. · 4 months ago

@bavarianbarbarian how about one whole year without electricity and gas? · 4 months ago

I think it all depends where you live. In the city, you need all these utilities, but deep in the countryside, you might be probably fine without it. · 4 months ago

I would probably get so incredibly bored I'd go catatonic unless there are books available. · 4 months ago
