@bavarianbarbarian I didn't say anything about gigabit, I was talking purely about mice. Never said a word about gigabit networking. · 2 months ago

desktop wired. laptop wireless. · 2 months ago

I prefer trackball mice, so in terms of the actual user experience, wired vs wireless makes no difference. In general, though, I prefer all things to be wired when possible--that way, I don't have to worry about each device managing its own power and data links. Bluetooth in particular annoys me. · 2 months ago

@chirale weight dos not matter a lot to me, i have upscaled the sensitivity so high that i can move around with just 2 fingers over my 34" screen without even moving my wrist. @xoagray i am also, but as I sayed, it makes absolutely no sense in my house. i am living in the ourback with a 50mbit internet connection, why should i install gbit hardware? 500mbit wireless does the job, repeaters everywhere around, i have even internet in the gardenhouse/barn without cables. imagine i live in germany, so i'd need weather proof cables for summer/winter/water... and drilling holes through 1m of stone and digging lanes for the garden. wireless is the method of choice. · 2 months ago

Honestly a fan of wired. Though it depends. I really like the Glorious model D. That has a featherweight cable so I don’t even notice it’s plugged in. I also realize that the batteries last forever in most wireless mice, but mine always seem to give out at the worst times. I do have wireless I’ll grab when I just need to stuff one in a go bag though. · 2 months ago

Wired at home/wfh, same motivation of @manufacturing_concern. I had an Anker wireless like @bavarianbarbarian but now I have 2 vertical Anker wired mice. This variant is lighter bc it haven't the battery weight. But for gaming and for watching movies I use a DualShock 2 w. AntiMicroX for custom shortcuts https://github.com/AntiMicroX/antimicrox Cable is long and tick and it seems an heavy duty piece of plastic. · 2 months ago

@gim i have an anker vertical mouse, if i remeber correctly, i think i need a battery in a year, touchpads in laptops/tables are not consuming batteries. i am used to use my computers with terminal/shortcuts, so the main reason to use a mouse is for gaming. · 2 months ago

headphones - wired.

mouse - when I was gaming a bit - wired, for work - wireless (plus semi large Logitech [wireless] touchpad).

as for batteries I use aa-size accus - tbh I don't remember how often I change them- maybe once in 6mo(?) due to kid's toys I generally always have some charged ones somewhere, so no biggie. · 2 months ago

except one keyboard and speakers everything wireless here, anything else makes no sense · 2 months ago

I don't use a mouse anymore. I am using a graphics tablet as an oversized trackpad, which is not as nice/accurate as the Mac's trackpad, but helps me avoid the ergonomic issues of using a mouse.

Every peripheral I use is wired. There is a huge jumble of wires on my desk. · 2 months ago

A wired mouse will not fall to the floor so easily and will not break. · 2 months ago

Since I discovered Logitech MX Master I went wireless. All other mice must be wired. :-) · 2 months ago

Wired for home use; wireless for abroad use.

At home, I don't want to worry about changing the batteries of my otherwise stationary input devices. And you only have to do the cable management once when you set up everything, then they don't get in your way.

Now when I'm at a coffee shop, I like to bring a wireless trackball (which I admit I sometimes use at home) as I'll be in a cramped table and treasure every square quadrangle I can get. That is the time where cables get especially annoying to deal with. · 2 months ago

Given the track most governments are on at the moment I'm very much in the wired everything camp. Definitely going on a Bluetooth purge in the very near future. · 2 months ago

👽 zomhara

Wireless for sure, I can move them around freely and the one I have only takes one AA battery, which lasts a long while · 2 months ago

i am with half_elf_monk, depends on, i have mixed stuff depending on the usecase. i have big wired headgear, wireless headphones etc... most things here are wireless cos i live in an old farmhouse and the walls are 1m thick made of massive stone. cables make absolutely no sense here anymore as wireless is so fast nowadays. regarding to mouses, i prefer wireless vertical, very more ergonomic. · 2 months ago

👽 jmcs

For things like this and headphones, I'm on the side of wired.

At least until they come up with a mouse that charges itself, possibly by bringing back that silly ball they used to have inside and making it move a generator as you move the mouse, or something like that. · 2 months ago

👽 half_elf_monk

Depends on usecase. At my workstation? Wired. In my bag for working when on the go? wireless. Not helpful, perhaps. · 2 months ago

👽 dariolob

Wireless for me, no cables running around :) · 2 months ago
