Considering that the Gemini protocol appeared around 2019 and with a constant growth of users, how did you get to know the Gemini protocol?

I first saw Lagrange while I was looking for a Gemini web browser I want to use on Alternativeto.net, and bam. found this browser, thought it was pretty nice and put it in my small hard drive for safe keeping. Since I've been used to using https sites for so long, I might want a small break from https websites sometimes. · 5 months ago
Came across it while looking into personal blogs and the small web, during one of my frequent bouts of getting nostalgic for the web as it was when I was a kid and deciding that modern web platforms can p*** off. · 5 months ago
i cant honestly remember but it would be an extremely solid bet to say i heard about it on the melonland forums because they are ALL about this kind of stuff · 5 months ago
I found out from the Gemini support of SourceHut Pages. I also learned about the Gemini plugin for Dillo. That's when I became interested in Gemini. · 5 months ago
In my case, a friend of mine mentioned it. I was interested so I grabbed a Gemini browser and looked around. Been here since. · 5 months ago
I can't remember where I actually first heard about it from because I recall it was near when Gemini was new, but my recent interest in it was brought about by stumbling upon and interacting with the Tildeverse. · 5 months ago
I am old enough to have used gopher when it was relevant, and 2020 was really boring. · 5 months ago
I've heard about Gemini in the middle of 2021 when there was a little hype about the protocol by some people in my YouTube subscriptions. Most of them gave up later, but I was immediately intrigued. And soon after surfing GeminiSpace a little I set up my own Gemini server and build it since then. Over time I added a lot of stuff like a kineto www proxy, a gopher and a finger server and some self built go scripts for proxying my Gopher content to the www for example. · 5 months ago
I learned about Gopher right at the end of 2020 through a Wikipedia article. I first joined SDF to get a gopherhole in January 2021, then I published my own in February. Some of my earliest logs refer to my "phlog." At this point I don't remember exactly how I learned about Gemini, but it was surely through SDF somewhere. I launched my capsule at the end of March 2021, then switched primarily to Gemini in May. My Gopherhole is still running, but it's all but abandoned by now. · 5 months ago
Friend recommended it when I was working on a gopher hole.
Offered a lot more possibilities so I switched to gemini. · 5 months ago
I can't find the exact post because apparently I didn't reblog it, but I heard about it on Pillowfort where I follow a bunch of people interested in the small web and related subjects. Someone linked to https://portal.mozz.us/ · 5 months ago
I was looking for web browsers on the ArchWiki, and wondered why Castor and Kristall weren't loading any webpages. Turns out they're Gemini clients.
Thankfully, someone eventually sorted them correctly. · 5 months ago
I discovered it from a YouTube video but honestly can't say for sure which channel as I immediately binged some more Gemini content once I got my first look at it. · 5 months ago
I heard about gemini from this:

I first heard about gopher from a friend. While browsing gopher pages saw some links with gemini:// on a phlog.
One thing led to another and now I have a gopher hole, gemini capsule, finger server and https website 😀 · 5 months ago

I've heard about Gemini from one of CLI related channels and dived deeper in this web protocol. It looks great, I like its visual aesthetics · 5 months ago
