After reviewing a little and averaging out the “overall content,” I pose an open question: Is the Gemini protocol mainly the domain of computer geeks, or is there much more variety than meets the eye?

Gemini goes back to basics of something like a BBS, but lacks the cohesiveness of locality. And so it suffers from abstractness. People here are war refugees and don't want to say much. The population is low, so there aren't really communities around topics. Gemini isn't grabby. It doesn't hold you. It's hard to remain in orbit. So you have to be interested in the technology, or have a deep appreciation of technology because you're an old head, to stick with Gemini. You have to want it because YOU want it. So, for now, computer geeks. · 2 months ago

After others I’d say most of people here are computer geeks but there’s still all the rest that is significant enough for me. · 2 months ago

There's a lot of computer geeks. As someone who doesn't do that for a day job, I'm glad there's accommodation for hobbyists like me. When I get around to putting a capusle up, I'll likely focus on non-computer / tech subjects. · 3 months ago

Well, there's a certain amount of geekiness you need in order to find out about gemini in the first place. There are some capsules and gopherholes out there that aren't particularly geeky, but if you're after "normal" people, you're probably better looking on Mastodon. · 3 months ago
