We recently got some motorized curtains installed. I'm finding that they're actually a lot more useful than I initially thought they would be, except - for nearly a thousand dollars per curtain, you'd expect that there wouldn't be a button that instantly breaks them. Friends, I wasn't paying attention, and pressed the button that instantly breaks them. Fuck.

I recall a friend noting that he started to re-think a lot of things when his google lightbulbs wouldn't turn on because a server went down for 8 hours somewhere across the continent. He had to go to bed early because there was no internet, no light, and no way to fix it. Hm. · 2 months ago

when we moved to our previous apartment, we did it in a hurry, and we had to wait for the company to connect the electricity (and gas, and water... not nice. But we did go to the gim quite a bit for a while).

They had installed... electric blinds. So we couldn't even have sun light in our living room.

I have since believed that electric blinds are humanity's worst and least effort-saving invention ever :D · 2 months ago

Also: it's silly that there's a 'break them instantly' button. Sorry about your experience... · 2 months ago

Motorized curtains sound so cool. Especially if you could automate them to open at $WAKEUP_TIME in the morning. It's a true natural-light alarm clock! · 2 months ago

Wait, what? Is that some kind of an emergency eject button? xD · 3 months ago
