Just got an official notice from our condo in Da Nang that we must organise a time to have a flag hung from our balcony in celebration of Vietnam’s reunification day on April 30th. Life’s so different here, I love it.

@mydesiredusername I'm from the UK. There are so many differences between Vietnam and life in the UK... the biggest? Damn, there are so many – I'd say peopel are just uniquely different here in how they think and behave. It's very alien to the average Brit. I've been here now over a year, and I think life is good here. Nowhere is without issues, but expat communities are very welcoming, intentional, and I have some great friends here. It's too hot though! · 7 months ago
@cosmo Same! I love a new flag! · 7 months ago
@manello It's a very important (to the Vietnamese) holiday when they celebrate the reunification of their country, and they want the country to look a certain way. As an outsider, I try not to have an opinion on it... it's their rules. · 7 months ago
Tons of questions, what is your country of origin? and also what is the biggest difference between the two places? I live in the states and now everyone is talking about jumping ship because the orange man and musk are chainsawing our civil liberties, so naturally I wonder what its like for others who have moved on from their home. · 7 months ago
I am also a fan of flags and being proud of nationality.... Being asked by the government to do that rather smells like forced propaganda. · 7 months ago
Neat! I'm a huge fan of flags so part of the novelty of a foreign place is just seeing a different flag everywhere and getting excited about it ^_^ · 7 months ago
