A consideration when reaching for GPT to write some code for you: yes it'll save time, but it'll take from you some problem solving. It's that same problem solving – sitting with a challenge and working through potential solutions/trade-offs – that made you a good problem solver.

The other side - some APIs and documents are really horrible (looking at you OpenSSL). So much so that GPT both writes the code and tells me what's what. I wouldn't be able to figure it out otherwise.

This is a good reason to use something better like libtls or Botan. But OpenSSL is widespread and accessable on all diatros. · 2 years ago
