I recently saw this posted about adding emphsis with the limited markup that gemtext provides.

𝖧𝖮𝖶𝖤𝖵𝖤𝖱, there are math unicode that seems to be able to do roughly the same thing. 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱. 𝘖𝘳 𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤. It's not a perfect system, but I think it works well enough.

It's generally a bad idea to use Unicode math symbols to write anything except math equations. This has been discussed before, for example: gemini://rawtext.club/~sloum/geminilist/007518.gmi

Gemtext is a text-oriented format, so it's important to use all Unicode code points according to their intended meaning, not just by their visual appearance. This way, the text can be understood also via non-visual means like text-to-speech, screenreaders, and language translation services. · 3 years ago
